Blow it up, start from scratch. Build from the draft. Like we always did. This lineup construction doesn't work.

Should have at least went harder to acquire Bojan or Hield if we’re gonna start hoisting up 3’s.

I want to play this line up:

AD
LBJ
Haywood
Oubre
Nunn

WB/Christie + 1FRP + a 2ndRP traded for Haywood/Oubre

Bev/Shroeder/Walker/Reeves as reserves in the back court allows Oubre/Haywood to move up to reserves at SF/PF. Perhaps Bryant is not suitable at reserve C, maybe add Cousins (waive TBjr).

The following should stack DNP-CDs:
Jones/Gabriel/JTA/Ryan

Nope! Sure don’t…but with both Hayward and Oubre at 6’7” perhaps we can cover for multiple players missing time. And as long as AD and Hayward doesn’t miss time at the same time we may have some insurance there.

Add Cousins and release TBjr so an alternative line up if Hayward out:
Cousins
AD
LBJ
Oubre
Nunn

If AD out:
Cousins
LBJ
Hayward
Oubre
Bev

If LBJ out:
Cousins
AD
Hayward
Oubre
Nunn

Of course Cousins is penciled in with potential challenges, perhaps either Bryant of Jones can snap out of their funk and be useful. Im risking it with Cousins tho to try to increase the probability of usefulness with 3 centers. Also Cousins looked like he was regaining form in Denver so hopefully at least one of Cousins/Bryant/Jones works out.

Your "big" lineup has Lebron at the PF and AD at the C?

After just 2 games, I'd go with:

Patty
Lonnie
Lebron
AD
Jones

or

Patty
Lonnie
JTA/AR
Lebron
AD

Walker is 2 of 12 3pt shooting, Nunn is 3 of 10. Lonnie still shooting much better overall and the 26pt vs the Clips was impressive...Nunn 5-9 shooting overall in the first game good also. Hope they both can get consistency.

I don't like Nunn at SG though nor Walker at SF...we need to fix that to put them in a better situation to succeed.

Bev or Nunn
Walker (prefer Spurs' Richardson or Hornets' Oubre)
LBJ
AD
Need someone (Cousins/Poeltl/Turner)

We have been outrebounded in two of the 3 losses. The only exception is the warriors game where we tied them in rebounding. A few more made 3’s and we could have won a couple of these games. If Westbrook wasn’t on the team we could have won the Portland game.

Just more reasons why we need to trade Westbrook for the pacers deal. Pacers deal gets rid of Westbrook, gives us 1 shooter, gives us one competent bigman.

Doubt we get outrebounded with Turner /AD eating all the center minutes. Less chances of bonehead plays with Westbrook gone. Heild will hit at least 2 threes a game which is all we need with the way we play defense.

Better rebounding
Better shooting
Addition by subtraction
Get ER done

Couple simple moves…

No more AD at the 5 as starter.
No more small 3 guard line-ups.

Oh yea… if they can’t trade Westbrook. Take him out of the closing line-up at least.

FREAK!
Well, the follow up question should have been if he was going to change the closing lineup. Please, no more Russ with AD/Lebron!!!!

It's crazy how Vogel and now Ham are putting their jobs on the line because of this whole Westbrook debacle.

Part of what Windy said today during that stupid Screaming A show was interesting. That the Lakers have to take care of their stars (or have that sort of optics right?) as that's part of their brand and appeal for players.

We don't need to get into the idea of Russ being a star or not, but I thought that was an interesting and potential factor in all this.

Well, one would think that their appeal is actually winning basketball games

But I get it.

If I was a potential star watching this I would be scared to death of coming to the lakers. This place can either make or break your career. It destroyed Dwight Howard’s image as a superstar and then he came here and reinvented himself a quality role playing big. He was damn near out the league when he came back here. Caron butler, and trevor ariza made their careers here.

Westbrook would probably still be a 25, 10, 10 guy and a borderline playoff team if he were anywhere else. The problem is that in Los Angeles we are accustomed to winning basketball. We know the difference between stat padding and going out there and giving us meaningful numbers. There are no nights off here where you can have a bad game. You can’t get away with playing 60 games a year here because the world is always watching.

We watched kobe and magic play here. You can’t just be a regular star and think it’s good enough. Only super stars can survive here. Lebron will learn soon enough that 1 ring isn’t enough. We expect back to back dominance or you’re wasting your time. Kobe, magic, Shaq…this is who’s shoes you’re attempting to fill and unless you pull a back to back out of your ass you’re not filling those shoes.

Another player that wouldn’t last here is James harden. We need dame or even Kyrie (he would become a legit superstar here). Hopefully, we just hold on to the draft picks and let Westbrook walk in the summer. Use that money to try and get Kyrie next summer. Just eat this season and try and retain some of the better role players for next season.

Lakers are listing Russell Westbrook (hamstring) as doubtful to play Wednesday vs. Nuggets.

Yes I like that. It's a risk with Hayward injury issues but if he's healthy 60% of time + playoffs, it's worth one FRP. Then we'd have Schröder/Beverley, Walker/Reaves, Brown/JTA, Gabriel and Bryant, who I'd still keep. I'd try to package Beverley plus another player for a additional wing if possible

Would start brown and give Nunn another crack at starting. Think he is ina genuine slump and could be a good shooter for us.

Nunn
Walker
Brown
James
AD

That leaves you a pretty versatile bench
Pat Bev G
Reaves G,SF
JTA F
Gabriel PF/C
Jones C

I wanted to do that in the off-season. At least as a first choice.

Trade Lebron to Golden State for Poole, Kuminga and Wiseman + future draft picks. They can win their next two championships and I wouldn’t give a damn.

Trade AD for Evan Mobley + filler and draft picks. A win for the Cavs because they would have the most insane frontcourt of Davis+Allen to go along with Mitchell and Garland.

Suddenly the team looks like this:

Poole
Reaves
Kuminga
Mobley
Wiseman

We go from fake contenders to the most exciting young team in the league. And the Warriors and Cavs both benefit to being guaranteed finals contenders.

But nope, Jeanie just has to have Lebron break that precious scoring record as a Laker.

Lakers guard Austin Reaves is expected to start in place of Russell Westbrook (out, hamstring) tonight vs. Nuggets, per sources, a lineup change L.A. could keep moving forward as team searches for rotations. Reporting:

Patty
Lonnie
Austin
Lebron
AD

Lets go!

Then Reaves can sub for Pat/Lonnie
