NY Post article (shortened)

https://tinyurl.com/myeb4y2d

I'm convinced that I've witnessed this at Albertson's a few months back. Now I'm seeing it's a thing. It's not a shocker because they sell all kinds of crap on ebay cheaper, but I didn't realize there was such a surefire market craving for cheaper Tide taking place across America. Basically, a man/woman team were leaving the store from the pharmacy area which is pretty isolated from the register areas (pharm was closed, no staff, coast clear). There are cameras who picture everyone walking in, but I don't suppose they give a sh. They had 3 of the industrial sized block-shaped containers in their cart and were making haste in the lot as I (the fool who paid for my stuff) was leaving behind them. Their getaway car was parked horizontally in a clear area to avoid being blocked in maybe. I was suss on why anyone would buy nothing but 3 of those industrial sized Tides (unless they owned a worm farm). I wonder how the F you go about fencing Tide, tho. Do these goons just put it up on ebay or what? Help me out here any of you who steal detergent.

The $$$. Here's FB's NoCal swap meet equivalent:

Apparently this dirty business has been a thing for a while. Here's video of a big raid on knock-off detergent from 6 years ago:

Jode is wondering what other brands you carry. Just how big this enterprise is. And if it's legal to carry copious Tide jugs over the border.

I think one of those tables carried the full Proctor & Gamble product line.

When I was a teenager, I used to buy bootlegged cassettes and jeans at the National City Swap Meet . . . but nothing else, since.

Now, I'd rather buy generic equivalents of whatever I can.

More theft trivia.

The only aisle in my local supermarket that has live video cameras and video screens in the aisle is --- the diaper aisle.

Diapers are the most stolen item in the grocery store.

(Which is sad when you think about young parents not being able to afford diapers.)

Baby formula is also up there, which is a horrible indictment of this nation’s current state; “You gotta carry that baby to term to satisfy my ‘morals’, but after that, y’all’s on yer own!”

Speaking of Tide, I go to a couple CVSes and they're giving away smaller yellow jugs of Tide for under 4 bucks. I usually get the cheapest recognizable brand they got. I think it was some kind of new fragrance gimmick that didn't work and the stores have too much of that product. Otherwise everything else is expensive. I no care what yellow Tide smell like because my washer is so hot that it burns all of the scent of any detergent away. I can smell faint bleach instead.
