One thing that really puzzles me is that the sign-n-trades.
In a time where cost reduction and cap relief is a major issue, the horrendous sign-n-trade inflate the "signer" team pay roll again.

Another weird thing is the trade "Salary X" for "salary X +- 125% +- 100K$". That keeps teams always of the verge of cap limit and also creates market for bad contracts. Sportwise it is a disaster.

Also the Knicks seem to be too stupid paying loads of money to less that average unproven players (jjames, jjefries, mrose, mtaylor) . And noone seems to bother other than fans, many GMs have been fired for a lot less than Isiah has done.

In a world of biz like the NBA, not to mention being in NY, it just seems too obvious to be nahive.

Is the NYK some money entry point for player market leverage? Or just plain money laudering?

I have some expertise in management, marketing and finance and this just doesn't make sense...

What are your opinions on the subject?

Sign and trades are a nice way for teams to get something for their free agents rather than letting them walk for nothing. A team looking to cut costs probably wouldn't bother since they can just let the player walk for nothing.

The salary thing is a necessary evil. Without allowing one team to acquire more salary than they send out in a trade, teams looking to dump salary and cut costs along with teams looking to upgrade their talent using tradeable pieces would be hard pressed to do so.

The Knicks situation is just bad all around. The fans of course hate it, but what can they do besides stop giving their money? At this point, Isiah is being made to lie in the bed he made,
