PostPosted: Fri Aug 17, 2007 5:30 pm    Post subject: List Your Best Burger Joints

I was in the mood for a Meaty-Meat Burger (best burgers I've ever had - Pico & Fairfax) and then I suddenly snapped out of my daze and realized they had closed down a few years back. Damn.

So, let's get this thread started! Here are a few of mine, in no particular order:

- Sonics
- Rally's (On a GOOD day!)
- Fatburger
- Wendy's
- In & Out
- Pink's (Imagine that?)

Anybody ever been to Big Mike's in Bellflower? I heard they make one of the biggest burgers around.

UPDATE: Anybody got any to add? I'm sure someone found some places in the past 2 years.

And my dark horse, Jack in The Box's Sirloin Burger. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Surprised the hell out of me.

It's weird. There's ONLY ONE in SoCal but like 18 in Bakersfield alone!

But I make that drive to Fullerton for that Route44 Cherry-Limeade!

^I don't want to hype it too much, but for a fast food chain, it is a really good burger. I've had it twice, and both times it was hot off the grill. You can choose what kind of cheese, and red or grilled onions.

I'm not going to say it's on the level of a in-n-out or fatburger, but for a fast-food burger, it's probably the best I've had.

Ditto on all 3.

The Jack-n-Box was a pleasant surprise.

I had Rally's regularly as a teenager in Illinois and thought it was awesome. I went to one on Brand in Glendale a few weeks ago and it was one of the worst burgers I've had in a long time. I was terribly disappointed.

And yes, the Jack in the Box sirloin burger is really good.

In N Out is always at the top of my list.
I have to give love to Tommy's, even though their burgers aren't what they're about.
The Habit is excellent. A handful of change more expensive than fast food, but cheaper than a typical sit down restaurant.
I have to say Fatburger is overrated. And the one on Ventura in Woodland Hills is so expensive that it made me laugh.
I've been dying to go to Sonic. We were tripping over them in the midwest, but there's just the one down in Orange County even though I see their ads 24/7. They got the "good ice" there and some of their stuff looks good. Tater tots with burgers = awesome sounding.

In-N-Out of course.
Fatburger too.
Y Not Burger is actually pretty good.

Has anyone been to Big Boy's? I heard they weren't good.

Cool, that's certainly good enough for me, bro. Thanks for the info on that. I'm there tomorrow for sure.

Where is Y Not Burger? What would you recommend?

And are you talking about the restaraunt Big Boy's?

Father's Office in Santa Monica/Brentwood... trust me. It's a fancy kind of burger for the white collar, after work crowd... but its damn good and they serve sweet potato fries. I like Apple Pan in West LA or the counter in Santa Monica as well. There are tons of good one's in West Hollywood as well including Topz, Astro Burger, Sirloin Burgers, and Carneys.

If you are ever in San Diego, you can try places including Corvette Diner, Lucky Bucks, Rocky's Pub, Ho Dad's, Nicky Rottens, Johnny B's, and the Waterfront.

Of course, nothing ever seems to be In N Out to me.... its just I have had so many of them, I have gotten used to them. That first time I tried In N Out though was something special.

Socks, that burger sounds really good! I like spicy burgers.

By the way, since you are from the Bay Area, have you ever been to Val's in the Hayward Hills area almost in Castro Valley? It's pretty good!
