If you want the PS3 for Final Fantasy XIII, you might as well wait and get one. Why get it now when it's expensive? Don't even think about getting the 40 GB hard drive. That system rips you off with no backwards compatibility, less hard drive space, and 2 less USB ports.
|
How many USB ports does the 40 gig version have compared to the 80 gig version? Also, I'm not really a techno-savvy guy, so could you please explain to me what the purpose for the USB ports is other than to hook up controllers? |
|
It has 2 usb connections. 80 has four.
You can hook up anything that has a USB connector to it. I was using the PS3's web browser for awhile and had a mouse and keyboard hooked up to the usb, for example.
You can also hook up camcorders, cameras, etc and store everything on the PS3.
Two usbs should be more than enough.
I have the 60 gb version. I think its the best version on the market and if you can find one, you should get it.
Also, dont worry about the size of the hard drive to much. Its VERY simple to upgrade yourself. |

So if the 40 gig only has two USB ports, does that mean I can only hook up two controllers? That would kinda be a gyp if it's true. _________________ "Basketball is simple. Put the ball in the hoop."

Controllers are wireless, you need to only charge it, which is through the USB port. _________________ Where's Cokie the Clown when you need him? |

ok, cool. As long as I can still do 4-player, I'm happy. I might just buy the 40 gig now. Well, not now, but later. Sometime. _________________ "Basketball is simple. Put the ball in the hoop."

I have both and I have to say the PS3 is better. Also as far as the usb goes I have 4 and never use more than 2 at a time. PS3 also allows 7 controllers at one time. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Wii is the thing. Lots of games now and new way of game playing.
GFX aren't as great as PS3 or Xbox.
I think I'm going for a PS3 next though. |

On pure value.... PS3
The BlueRay player is deciding factor. Plus, they dropped the price again. _________________ Monta Ellis: "Kobe is #1, I'm #2, LeBron is #3." |

Then I wouldn't buy either. Its really not worth it without the tv. Get a WII! They are awesome. _________________ Monta Ellis: "Kobe is #1, I'm #2, LeBron is #3." |

I actually just got mine a couple weeks ago. The stores couldnt keep them in stock for more then 5 minutes once a week here. I had to pay the guy 50 bucks to hold it. When I got there, there were 20 people waiting in line to try and get them. 8) _________________ Monta Ellis: "Kobe is #1, I'm #2, LeBron is #3." |

Damn, im considering taking the plunge into the world of playstation. I got the option to pick it up as a xmas gift but not sure if i need it. One positive would be the blu ray player now because i got warner to swap out my harry potter boxset for the blu ray version, and they sent me the oceans boxset for free , so i will take that into a store and swap it for blu ray. They also have the five free blu ray movies deal, plus spiderman 3 going on now also, so the blu ray would be a big plus. What about on the gaming side, any ps3 fans can give me a legit reason to own both systems (ps3 and xbox 360)? |

I have the Wii and the PS3.
I like the 360 it is a very good console. Gaming is very good, graphics is very good, and the online is the best. I also like it because all my friends have a 360 and they online game a lot, but since I don't have one I can't.
That's why the choice between the console was tough for me. The thing that sold me on the PS3 is the obvious blu ray but also that the PS3 is wi-fi and bluetooth enable. I like what it is capable of doing, not what it really can do now. Im sure eventually the online gameing will be better maybe and maybe then you'll have to pay for it.
I think the 360 is capable of all the things that sold me, but for right now, I think you have to buy all that seperatly. I bet you that the 360 is probably already has or is developing a 360 that has wi-fi and bluetooth already in the console to match up with the PS3. So if you are undecided on it right now, might just want to wait on either a price drop or the 360 adding features I just mentioned. |

I have the Wii as well but I don't have as much time as I used to playing video games. The thing I really like about the Wii is it's great for family, friend get together.
My one friend actually threw his kid a Wii sports birthday party. It was pretty cool, had tournaments on all the games on Wii sport and he bought medals for the Gold Silver and Bronze winners for each sport.
I haven't really ventured around on Wii, I stick to Mario Galaxy, Party.
How are the sports game like Madden and NBA Live? |

2009 will be here. you better get a hi def Tv. even a small one. you're not experiencing these games the way they are meant to be. without a HD TV. believe me, I went from an old school tube TV , to a HD TV while owning my Xbox360. and the difference was beyond drastic. |

Something to consider if you are shopping for a stand alone Blu-Ray Player:
Quote: | With the upcoming 2.0 player profile requiring Blu-ray players to be networked, Sony finally gets to play its trump card: the PlayStation 3, which has clearly emerged as one of the best Blu-ray players on the market—and is likely to remain so for some time. Why? Because the first player now becomes the most versatile, sporting a future-proof Blu-ray setup.
Before we can understand why the PlayStation 3 is able to so easily deal with new profiles, we must first look at the difference between the 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 profiles to see why a simple firmware update isn't enough to make a player compliant. |

The reason why I don't consider Blu-ray to be a factor when it comes to the PS3 is because of the PS2. Many, many lessons were learned when people like me were using their PS2s as their sole DVD players as well as playing games on them. Because I play a lot of games and watch a lot of DVDs, I don't see myself willing to risk having it pull double duty again if I were to pick up a PS3. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

360 is great when it's working.
Just sent mine in for it's 3rd repair.
Bought in 01/07
1st repair 02/07
2nd repair 06/07
3rd repair 01/08
Same thing every time, stops reading discs.
I think I stretched it out this last time because I just stuck COD4 in and left it running 24/7.
As hard of a time these have of reading discs I get the feeling they are using a bad clone of a Chinese clone of a dvd drive. _________________ Forget carbon, reduce your government footprint |
