Since we last played Philly on December 21st, the Sixers traded Kyle Korver to the Jazz for Gordon Giricek. Philly won three in a row after their loss to us. On this west coast trip they lost to Portland, beat Seattle, then lost a hard fought game to Utah. They have one more game on this trip after our battle tonight. This team does a good job of hanging around in games and pressuring their opponents into mistakes so they can get out in transition. They did a good job pressuring the ball and playing the passing lanes against us in Philly. They look to manufacture points off their defense.

In the game at Philly, the Sixers did a great job of being active and applying pressure after free throws, and in dead-ball situations. We need to do a better job of valuing and protecting the ball. They applied more and more pressure as the game progressed. We need to do a better job of exploiting this through the use of our automatic pressure release options. We can use their aggressive defensive tactics against them with proper spacing. Every time we pushed the lead to the 8-10 point range instead of protecting the ball and executing, we turned it over or made bad decisions which led to easy buckets for Philly and a tighter game than it should have been.

Offensively, the Sixers run some basic NBA offensive actions. We will see drags (transition screen and rolls), zippers, hawk cuts, ucla action, and single-double. Another problem we had in Philadelphia was some basic defensive lapses on very familiar sets. We gave up two layups on simple hawk cuts (see video clip). Once again, giving up a basket here or there may not seem like a big deal across a 48 minute game but it can change momentum and have a big impact on the flow of the game.

Another area of concern tonight is the rebound battle. Since we are without Lamar, everyone must do a little extra to make up for that loss of rebounding. Dalembert and Evans are solid rebounders and we cannot let them control this area of the game.

I think Lakers will lose this one. The first time they played Boston this season, they were demoralized and lost to a Jazz team missing two starters. I predict the same thing this time. It'll take another game for them to get back on their feet.

im looking forward to a good lakers game tonight after the long lay over from sunday they can bounce back with a strong showing, more defense and more defense is needed from the other since lamar is out, sasha and radmonovich are questionable but i think the lakers can pull it out.

Short rotation tonight without LO and Vlad and Sasha as game time decisions. Hope Ronny can play some bigger minutes for us tonight.

It'll be interesting to see how Philly plays Bynum this time around since he destroyed them last time. We need big rebounding from him and AB with LO out.

Also Philly didn't have Louis Williams in the last game. He's an ultra-quick small guard who can penetrate and score in bunches - the kind of guy that gives us trouble. Hoping we can do a good job of containing him.

RONNY NEEDS TO STEP UP BIG TIME:

The lineup should look like this

Drew/Kwame/Ronny
Ronny/Luke/Kwame
Trevor/Luke/Kobe/Coby
Kobe/Sasha/Javaris/Coby
D-Fish/Jordan/Javaris

I see us kicking Philly's butt after a rusty first half. Believe you me, they are NOT happy about how bad we looked against Boston. We'll be pounding the ball inside and we'll beat Philly.

For those of us who did not see the last game against the sixers this is a good preview. Thanks!

I know we say this every game but: This is going to be a test for Bynum. Philly got torched by Bynum last time (10-11 FG, 24 pts, 11 reb), so they'll probably adjust, and it will be interesting to see how Bynum counter-reacts

we will be rusty in the first half because of the long layoff. in the second half we will probably blow it open if we feed bynum because no1 on their team can guard him.

kobe - 28/6/6
bynum - 21/13/2(more rebounds because of no LO)

lakers - 112
sixers - 98

How this team responds to the Boston thrashing will determine where we go this season.

I'd like to see us blow this one open early.

Chris Mihm won't play.

Lamar won't play.

I think they just said that Vujacic and Vlad won't play.

Mihm - out
Lamaar- out
Vujacic - out
Vlad - out

I think they're forgetting that Kwame is out because he doesn't play well. Same with Luke since he'll probably have to guard an athletic Andre Iguodala.
