Not of all time, but currently, who is the best musical act (band/singer) in the world right now?

My 2 bets are either U2 or the Foo Fighters. I don't think FF is recognized enough for Dave Grohl's excellence.

What other options?

hahaha... you guys are funny. I love U2. It's like a religious experience going to their concerts. I'm sure Radiohead is great though.

Of course it is like a religious experience...Bono thinks he is God. Just kiddin'. I'd actually like to go see U2 live. However, the best band I've ever seen live is Radiohead.

Kenny Chesney, Josh Groban, Miley Cyrus, and Jimmy Buffett sell out all of their tours too. What was your point?

QFT, although I think most won't agree

I love Incubus, I've seen them live at least once year since 2002.

The Foo Fighters I think are very underrated...

I am a huge, huge Radiohead fan, and Radiohead is killer live. But U2 is on another level.

In Rainbows was easily the best album last year, though.

I went to a U2 concert a few years ago and it was great....except for the ditz behind me who stayed on her cell phone the whole time. She hung up once, saying "I will call back when they are playing a good song." I should have turned around and smacked her silly.

The Roots, I know they're not as big as Radiohead or U2 but I love their concerts. They go from one song to the next seamlessly and every person in the band gets to do an awesome solo. It's just a very raw and pleasant experience.

I would really like to see Muse.

Pink Floyd is my personal favorite band of all time, and I saw them in concert in the 1990s up in Toronto. Great show! But no album in a long time means no mention from me in this thread.

Very lucky. I didn't realize he was going out and touring like this.

I wish I had been in Berlin in..what was it, 1991?...for the Wall show with all the All-Stars of rock, even if Scorpion performed as well.

Agree with the other folks here - The Roots put on one hell of a live show, though I haven't really been too into their last album.

Radiohead also gets a vote from me as does Bloc Party.

I've seen Pink Floyd a couple times (The Wall tour and the big one they did after Roger Waters left the band). The earlier shows were better, but the later one was just....vacuous. Where there should have been energy & connecting with the audience, instead there were lasers.

Sorry to hear that. Saw two shows on back to back nights in Vancouver, BC, and there was an unbelievable connection and energy.

Unfortunately, when I saw them in Toronto in 94 or 95, I was so up high in the stands I couldn't see them very well. Yes, lasers, yes, floating and flying pigs, the music was great, but the interaction is a moot point for me since it wouldn't have mattered at all.
