I'm sure never actually. They will get the defending skills of Bynum and Ariza, but not thanks to Phil. |

Horrific loss on so many levels. Poor perimeter defense, poor interior defense, terrible shot selection and decision making by the guards, bigs playing small or disappearing for long stretches...
Damn. |

Stern is just salivating at these 1st round matchups. He sees dollar signs, more viewers, dollar signs, more viewers, rinse, repeat, evil maniacal laughter, etc. |

Don't know why anyone would want HOU in the first round the way they handed our azzes to us the last time we played...If Battier defends Kobe the way he did in the last game, believe me, we DO NOT want HOU in the first round... |

yet again the team plays with no heart, or hustle. Typical of jacko coached teams over the last several years. |

Why are the Portland announcers such classless a-holes? |

Why are you guys so surprised? We lost the last game to POR the exact same way. Pau Gasol is not a defensive anchor, he cannot stop or deter penetration.
We need Andrew Bynum back to be a presence in the paint. That last shot Roy made on Gasol would have been an easy block for Andrew. I hate to say it but one player MAKES all the difference for our team. |

That number 1 seed just got washed away with this loss. Looks like a two at best most likely a three.
This team isnt quite there yet mentally folks. Im afraid we're resting too much of our hopes on Bynum and he alone cant fix what ails this team.
Portland, Memphis, Charlotte and Sacramento over the last couple weeks. Championship contenders dont fall to teams like that in short windows of time.

this game like every lakers loss was all bad defense. If you cant beat a team out of the playoffs when you have to, its defense. not refs, not offense. defense. _________________ "99% of the players in the NBA would immediately have surgery to repair a torn ligament in their small finger, but

not singling you out or trying to pick on you - this is an extremely common sentiment
but since when do championship teams just say "aw well no biggie they just have our number screw trying to win"
to me a championship team would be the one that BEATS the lesser teams, especially the ones they have struggled against. they would come into this game at Portland thinking WE NEED TO SHOW THESE FOOLS WHAT'S UP, BRING OUR A GAMES.
but no, Lakers would rather suck for 75% of the game and then try hard right at the end cuz that's such an effective strategy in basketball |
Hey, I agree with you. The Lakers do not look like a championship team right now. I'm just saying, Portland seems to for whatever reason always play the Lakers well. |

Very tough for them to win out:
Phoenix
@ Denver
@ Utah
Not going to be easy, expect 1 or 2 losses for them. |

I'm really tired of watching Phil Jackson coach...he needs to develop a successor, groom the next Phil Jackson..he needs to quit, he is too old for this game.

If it was up to me, 100 year old "The Schonz" would still be at the helm...not a big fan either of the current crew, never have been. |

I gotta give it up to the Portland fans. Their team has no shot at the playoffs but they were cheering and supporting their young team big-time tonight. |

He's been sitting like that for 9 championships, that's why he's known as Chief Sitting Bull. Lakers could probably get a coach who jumps up and down, but doesn't come with the sort of clout that Phil brings. |

As long as the Lakers hold off Phoenix, they are guaranteed a top-4 seed (probably 3 at worst). |

good luck in the lottery. |
See, that's the thing about the current playoff system. Portland and either GS/DEN/DAL are going to the lottery, while a crappy team like ATL in the East goes to the playoffs and gets waxed in the first round. It is not cyclical. A couple strong teams in the West are going to have lottery picks. Now the percentages are small, but it's possible that Portland or GS/DEN/DAL will end up with one of the top 3 picks. Imagine if any of those teams adds a talent like Derrick Rose, Beasley, etc. Scary thought, esp. with Oden coming in next year. |
