Never really thought i would care, but I must say I was really stoked for him/franchise and us as fans.

I always assumed the Bias against him would get the best of the voting.

Well he/We all won

MVP gonna take us home this year

You said it. Not only that, but if everything plays out the way it should... the two #1 seeds should meet in the finals... and it so happens that it's the Celtics and the Lakers. Does the NBA get any better than this? Soak it in my friends!

That was one of the warmest, genuinely joyful press conferences I've seen in a long time.

I'm proud to be a Lakers fan.

Congratulations, Kobe. Way overdue.

DB, you forgot the ending to your story.

The kid looks over and says, "That may have been great for his time, Grandpa, but you know if he was playing today, he'd just be an average guy...."

Exactly. I wonder how many LGers will keep crying about the disrespect now?

How in the hell did Chris Paul get 28 of Kobe's 1st place votes?

Should have been unanimous!

So now we can begin arguing something else:

which is the bigger travesty: That Magic had to wait until 1987 to win his first MVP (8 years in the league), or that Kobe had to wait until 2008 to win his first (12 years in the league)?

I feel like we won the championship already. Seriously, if Boston doesn't win the ring this year, I will be able to say this has been a very satisfying NBA season.

Besides winning another championship, this is a dream come true for all Laker fans. Congrats to Kobe, finally winning his first MVP. We all know this won't be the last.

Here is a link that shows the complete vote breakdown, I just wish it showed the ballots by media member because that would be very interesting to see.

Now that the voting is public, I could see Kobe winning at least 2 more MVPs. 82 first place votes is mind boggling.

Will they do something before the game tomorrow? Sucks that they're doing this now. I'd rather they do some kind of presentation before the game.

I loved the part when Kobe was asked what he will do in the offseason, and Kobe said, "..try to keep the gold medal from Pau.."
