I'd say the majority of songs are ruined when sampled by rappers, considering they don't create their own music and the majority of rappers suck.

To a certain extent I would agree. Let's not blame everything on rappers, some samples are just used poorly by producers. A lot of times the delivery from the rapper would be piss poor no matter the beat.

Actually, that was awesome... Jay-Z did that as a come back to Noel Gallagher who was pissed Jay Z was chosen to headline the event... And much to Noel's dismay, the crowd loved it!

I think he renamed it "Ca$h Money Mir".

I'd like to have heard the pitch by Sean's producer. "There was this superb blues rock band in the 70s called Led Zeppelin, you see..." Diddy: "Word?" Producer: "We're gonna try to get a crossover thing going even though the guitarist is 72 yrs old." Diddy: "Word?" Producer: "Word, and this is going to be a huge hit, forget Aerosmith and Run DMC. Forget Anthrax and Public Enemy. Forget Hall & Oates and N.W.A." Diddy: "Word?"

Jay Z sampled "Hard Knock Life" from Annie, the musical. It's safe to say there wasn't anything he wouldn't touch.

Haha. You ever see the clip of V-Ice cleverly explaining how the extra "ting" made all the diff? Yeah, he got sued.

But it worked...

In the case of Oasis and Gastenbury, it wasn't a sample, but more of a spoof, which went over very well with the crowd... Pure OWNAGE

That whole 'song' was a rip off... the hook (Ice Ice Baby) was taken from a black fraternity, and the melody/beat was taken from Bowie.

but I thought Jay-Z's sampling of Annie was actually pretty good. I don't think sampling is an evil; it just needs to be done right.

I can appreciate his cover of Wonderwall now.

Also, didn't a group just blatantly rip off the exact beat from "I Got Five on It" to create another hit rap song?
