which movie scenes just "stand out" to you due to the power and overall emotion in the scene? A few off the top of my head....if you got some post them!

Deer Hunter- the infamous Russian Roulette scene where De Niro's acting gives me chills everytime I watch it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqakCa-MysE&feature=related

Scarface- the scene where Tony kills Manny. Gina goes after him to try to attack Tony and he feels so coked up and bad that he can't bear to look at her. The music and acting in that scene...wow

Training Day- "you think you can do this to me?!" enough said.

damn i can't forget American History X. Personally, I love the scene where the family is eating dinner and Norton goes off on the teacher.

Some of my favorites are in Children of Men, especially that scene where there is all out war going on and they carry a baby and everyone stops to look. Very powerful scene for me.

The scene in Pulp Fiction where John Travolta has to save an overdosed Uma Thurman by injecting an adrenaline shot straight to the heart.

The cutting of the ear off the police officer in Reservoir Dogs.

The ending of the first Godfather where Michael is seen as the doors close on his wife.

So many other great scenes.

Good call on Training Day. That scene popped into my head soon as I read the title.

Another one is when Katsumoto, Algren, and the other Samurai are shot at the end of The Last Samurai. Here's a link. Not necessarily because of great acting like DeNiro/Walken or Denzel, but because of the scene itself. After everything that had happened throughout the movie, this tops my list.

Crimson Tide:

The scene where Denzel and Gene go at it and Denzel relieves Gene of his command.

That scene was so intense, they said the crew had to take a break because everyone was tensed-up from Gene and Denzel going at it.

Heat:

The scene where DeNiro and Pacino meet up at the diner. Great exchange and calm but very serious. Their experssions at one another were classic.

The Rock:

The scene where the mercenaries ambush the SEALS team in the washroom. The exchange between Biehn and Harris was intense: "I cannot give that order!" - Classic

Armageddon:

The scene where Willis gets into it with the astronaut dude over detonating the nuclear bomb. Classic line - "What are you doin' with a gun in space?"

Deep Cover:

The scene where Fishburne, Clarence Williams, and Goldblum are at the dock trying to get away with the Columbian drug money. Fish's reading of Goldblum's Miranda rights was deep.

American History X:

The scene where Norton shoots the gangbangers that stole his radio and then how he kills the one gangster, and then his smirk-turn-to-anger look as he realizes he's getting arrested. Great film overall.

The biting the curb part in American History X is just intense! all types of emotions were going through my head when i saw that one!

This one might be silly... but Mufasa's death in the Lion King.

When Jenny starts throwing the rocks at her childhood house in Forrest Gump.

When Emile Hirsh realizes he ate the wrong berries and knows he's going to die at the end of Into the Wild.

The Rape Scene in Irreversible (Don't Watch it!)

Blanking on so many. Saw one that made me well up a bit.

The Movie is "The Patriot."

The scene is right before the final battle.

The racist white militia man, who has belittled the black slave/militia man for the duration tells the black dude that it is October and he has already won his freedom. Black dude replies that he is there on his own accord. White dude says "I'm honored to fight with you." Looks at him in the face and repeats "Honored."

That scene always gets me.

The Shining: "Here's Johnny!"

Godfather: Horse head.

Shower scene in Psycho.

Butch Cassidy: "I can't swim!"

Raiders of the Lost Ark: Shooting the guy with the sword.
