La Bamba...when the family hears about the plane crash on the radio.

LOL! I was thinking of that exact scene as well, but didn't really want to mention it because I was embarrassed that La Bamba is the only movie that makes me cry every damn time.

lol it's ok, my eyes get watery when i watch that movie and no one is around.

Bob was the man in that movie. A great movie La Bamba was.

and i agree with El Daddy about the ending the Malcolm X... still leaves me shook everytime i see it

Bob is a beast!

and as for Malcolm X, it's one of my favorite movies. but i always have trouble watching it to the end. i don't know how anyone could ever take a person like that away from us.

all my love all my kissin, you dont know what youve been missin OH BOY

lol

but with Malcolm, ive never seen an actor turn into their character the way Denzel did Malcolm... Spike Lee delivered every facet of that film with perfection

ECT scene from Cuckoo's Nest and the "MY cigarettes!" scene before it.

Streep choosing between children in Sophie's Choice.

Rape scene in Once Upon A Time In America (very harsh scene, probably wouldn't make it past the cutting room today). Ned Beatty's rape scene in Deliverance (eww) culminating with Voight staring at Burt to shoot the arrow. Them Appalacian boys were legit.

Numerous scenes with Regan in The Exorcist 1973.

Fake cocaine / 99 Luftballoons scene from Boogie Nights. I put this with the adrenaline shot from PF.

"In Dreams" scene from Blue Velvet.

End scene of Five Easy Pieces (Jack hitches ride).

Celie meets fam from CP is good. Spielberg is a master at those emotional climaxes.

I find the Milkshake scene in TWBBlood to be inferior to the scene where his son as an adult estranges himself from him (bastard from a basket). I guess that's less obvious, tho.

Not really a Speilberg fan, but that scene was beautiful.

Love this movie and this scene. One of Jack's best. Also good scene from this movie is Jack on the back of the moving truck bed, playing the piano.

A few that come to mind....

Jaws - Quint , Brody and Hooper drink, talk and sing into the wee hours of the morning, then Jaws comes a knockin' ...and the final battle ensues. I love how everyone is laughing and having fun, then Quint realizes it's game time and the whole mood changes.

Matrix- Morpheus rescue / Neo saving Trinity from chopper crash. "Now do you believe?" AWESOME!

Full Metal Jacket- Pyle's revenge.

Carlito's Way- Kleinfeld (Penn) asks Carlito (Pacino) for a favor (Boat Scene) "A favor gonna kill you faster than a bullet".

Two scenes that 'get me' from some lesser known films:

Hearts in Atlantis- Scene where the boy is rescuing the girl and trying to carry her uphill with Anthony Hopkins' character telling the football flashback story in the background.

What Dreams May Come- When Robin Williams character finds out that Cuba's character is his son. " If I had to go through hell with anyone..."

Pulp Fiction is loaded with cool scenes, like when Bruce Willis is looking for weapons at the Pawn Shop, or when he blasts John Travolta who just took a dump, or the $5.00 Milkshake...

Maybe that was your remaining brain cell trying to ooze out through the front of your skull and find a more suitable home?

Difficult to pick one, of course.

But the first scene that popped into my head after reading the thread title was the attack on the castle in Akira Kurosawa's Ran. The castle as been betrayed and will certainly fall, but they fight anyway.

You see the most horrible brutality with this truely mournful music. It's been a while, but I remember so much death and killing ... I remember a quick glimpse of one of the fallen holding his own severed arm. Blood everywhere. A true massacre.

I don't believe anyone has done a better job of portraying the horror and pointlessness of war.
