Here are the overnights for Jay facing season premieres at 10.

4. CSI: Miami / CBS / 4.3 / 11 / 13.7 million

9. Castle / ABC / 2.3 / 6 / 9.4 million

10. The Jay Leno Show / NBC / 1.8 / 5 / 5.7 million

With each passing day I keep reading the same phrase about The Jay Leno Show and that phrase is "lowest ratings to date."

The decline is just as I predicted and within 1 week he's already at 1/3 of the audience he had when he started. He finished 3rd last night and he can get used to it. He's even still running on the fumes of that gigantic marketing campaign. His stupid face is still plastered all over Los Angeles.

I didn't even think he'd fall as quickly as he is. I figured he had a little more time to enjoy the big ratings. It's all downhill from here.

A huge "House" lifted Fox to victory in key demos on the opening night of the television season while making life more difficult for new and returning shows on rival nets. CBS rookie "Accidentally on Purpose" bowed to nothing-special scores, and NBC's "Heroes" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" were among the veteran shows to fall off noticeably vs. last year.
The night was also a tough one for NBC's "The Jay Leno Show," which was saddled with a lower lead-in and predictably took a hit opposite tougher competition.

Quote:
NBC had a tough night all around, as the two-hour season premiere of "Heroes" (2.7/7 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) was off more than 40% from its start of a year ago (when it aired on the night from 9 to 11 p.m.), opening with numbers more in line with its close to last season. And "Jay Leno" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) ran third among the broadcasters at 10 p.m., delivering roughly one-third of its premiere night rating one week earlier and posting its lowest scores to date.

5.7 million...if it were late nite, he'd be doing great!

But this is primetime....5.7 million viewers makes 10pm advertisers paying a premium VERY unhappy.

Exactly. No talk show can compete with original prime time programming.

So CSI Miami's premiere, which is a weekly show got only 13 million viewers?

Jay Leno which is a daily show got 18 million in his premiere.

Leno>CSI Miami

We'll wait to see CSI and the other shows ratings to drop as well.

Answer completely honestly.

Do you really think that Jay Leno is going to beat CSI on a regular basis?

If so, would you like to bet?

Haters celebrating early

Also as I've stated before, if Leno can keep up with a weekly shows ratings, he's kicking ass. Cause people can catch Leno everyday.

He's not keeping up. Look at what these shows average. Jay is down to 5M viewers a night. That's not keeping up. It's getting murdered. You can't count his big premiere as his typical rating.

But he's competing against a different weekly show every single day. And he'll lose.

You need to compare premieres with premieres, not a premiere with Leno's freakin 10th show.

CSI 13 million

Leno 18 million

By the way, someone state what daily show at 10pm will beat out Jay Leno.

We don't have to compare premieres.

CSI: Miami averaged 14+million viewers last season. It has averaged as high as 19 million. It has averaged 16, 18, 19, 18, 17, 16 and 14 million viewers over the course of the show's history. So that's the ballpark Jay's show is dealing with. Getting 5 million viewers is going to bury him against that show every time he's up against it.

That's not the way it works.

Putting a daily talk show on at 10pm is like putting on the NEWS at 10pm. The advertisers are not gonna pay primetime money. They're gonna pay 10pm news money. Like it or not, Jay has to be on par with the weekly shows EVERY NIGHT. Otherwise, advertisers and network are unhappy campers.

Jays getting 5 million viewers everynight?, thats 25 million a week. 25 million > 13-19 million.

How else are you gonna compare a weekly show to a daily show.
