I went to the Air Force museum in OH last summer and saw the Memphis Belle in pieces as they were restoring it. Really cool to see history torn apart like that.
BoxCar was fully put together though. |

Those old birds could certainly take punishment.
It never ceases to amaze me how brave those men were, flying without fighter escort across Europe, exposed to both flak and enemy interceptors... in broad daylight. Sadly, the selfless struggle that helped define our nation's identity has been increasingly marginalized in our history texts. |
