So I went to Five Guys burger joint today for the first time. Based on all the hoopla I've heard I wanted to try it out and compare it to my favorite fast food burger joint In N Out. Heres a breakdown of the experience
Burger
I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger. It's a little bigger than In N Out's double double and has a bigger selection of toppings. I like the bun better on the In N Out burger as this seemed to be a pretty standard sesame seed bun you'd find anywhere. Flavor wise pretty much on par with In N Out so can't really give the nod to either one. If you like non-traditional toppings then Five Guys may be your place.
Fries
A small fries is huge. You could easily share them with at least 1 possibly 2 other people. I got the standard non spicy variety. Flavor wise they were pretty good but not cripsy enough for my taste. In N Out has that crispy outter layer and then the soft middle. These were barely crispy with a soft middle. I'd have to give the edge to In N Out here.
Price
Here's where the big difference lies. My order of a double bacon cheeseburger, small fries, and a small coke came out to $12.24!! That is a pretty hefty tab for a fast food burger joint. In N Out is almost half the cost. Honestly if I want to spend $12 on a burger meal I'll go to Red Robin where the burgers and fries are superior.
Summary
Although the burgers offer more toppings and are a little bigger the edge in fries and price goes to In N Out. I think it's safe to say that this will be my first and last visit to Five Guys. |

I think we had a pretty lengthy debate on this last year. It was fairly close but the LG leaned toward In & Out.
I like em both but think 5 guys has a better burger. The price however is a bit much. then again I like the regular double double more than animal style so what do i know. |

I HATE 5 GUYS.
I've never had an In and Out before.
Here in east tennessee their is a local burger joint named Pal's. I LOVE THEIR BURGER!
A double big pal with cheese and fry fills me up. And I am a big ol' boy.

Five Guys is damn good... but expensive compared to other fast joints, but comparable to places like Fuddruckers. |

Yeah, but at that price point, I'd much rather have Fuddruckers. |

Five Guys fries are just cardboard nasty. The burger was ok but it wasn't as fresh as In-N-Out. |

Maybe the quality varies franchise to franchise, but the one I tried out here was bland, overpriced and disappointing. I doubt the manager (perhaps the son-in-law of the owner) had any experience in food service. |

Went to Five Guys earlier. I just looked at the menu and turned away to the exit.
I'll stick to Checker's... _________________ (❍ᴥ❍ʋ) ʕʘᴥʘʔ (⌐ ͡■ ͜ʖ ͡■) (┛◉Д◉)┛( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽ |

A Five Guys just opened near me. I'd heard good things about them so I tried it. Their burgers are surprisingly good. Not In-N-Out good, but good. Better than most other burger places around here. They're just not good enough to justify the price. A burger from Steak N' Shake is almost as tasty and less money with a shake than just the burger at Five Guys. I guess they can get people to pay, since they're so successful as a franchise, but in my opinion they're not worth it. _________________ Nerd rock in progress.

That list looks about as traditional as it gets. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Do Five Guys come in a bun? If so, then I don't want to try it. |

Getting sample of information from Wikipedia is becoming traditional.
Anyway, I do agree. That list looks so traditional. If it's going to be "non-traditional," they gotta put some weird edible stuff on the burger like peanut butter and jelly. A scoop of ice cream on top of a beef patty etc...
Glad I walked out of Five Guys. Their price was horrifying my wallet. _________________ (❍ᴥ❍ʋ) ʕʘᴥʘʔ (⌐ ͡■ ͜ʖ ͡■) (┛◉Д◉)┛( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽ |
