With Kobe in scoring mode, our role players have no value. You think Phil and Kobe have a different gameplan these last few games to "force" Mitch's hand to make a trade? _________________ “YO JEANIE, WHATS UP MY BIIIAAACCCHH!” – COCA JAMES ON 1540AM THE TICKET LAKERS ROUNDTABLE - 03/02/06

As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if Kobe is showcasing the junk for trade value as long as we can get a trade done that will make us a better team. |

The Lakers could fool around and win a game while the guys are
learning some things at the same time! Hopefully the showcasing will
continue... _________________ "According to ESPN.com's conference projections, the Lakers will finish 12th in the West, which prompted Bryant to tweet earlier this offseason, "12th I see.." |

Yes. And NO.
It's quite possible that Kobe has been playing better team basketball...
Kobe has gone back to the initiator role and he's actually playing the way he did when he was the ONLY intiator on this team...
BUT
While I believe that Kobe will do anything he can to win a game, I do think that Phil has him looking at the big picture...which hopefully, doesn't include some of the players on our team...
Anybody think that a guy who accused Kobe of tanking games and "throwing" games wouldn't suggest that Kobe defer to his teammates "for the greater good"?
That's naivety in its purest form. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

Kobe would not intentionally lose games. He works too hard to win every possible game. Phil might be placing an emphasis on team play to get other players involved. Phil may be giving players who are possible components in trades more playing time. Teams have been also known to sit players who are about to be involved in a trade. Playing time for those considered in trades may allow players to be more in rhythm. Passing the ball more may also reflect well on players who are assisted by Kobe. A one man show in the Playoffs is doomed to failure. The Lakers must come together as a team, or it will be one and done if they even make the Playoffs. There is no doubt teams showcase players for trades. I wouldn't be surprised if the Nuggets were running more plays for KMart to try to increase his value in trade. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. [sarcasm] Do you think KB was playing his heart out to showcase his skills in Jan, to improve his trade value? [/sarcasm] |

NO. I think that is a contrived notion with nothing whatsoever to substantiate it. Ridiculous because with the so called "passive" mindset comes losses. I don't believe Kobe wants to lose any game, ever. |

I don't either, but I'm starting to wonder if Kobe's motor is showing signs of running down a little. We all know how fit he his, but at the level he's been playing at all year who could blame him for being a little weary? |

And Porky's is a classic piece of American cinema.
I Kobe isn't going to dish the ball out unless he believes it's going to help him win. I don't think Phil or anyone else could convince him to pass up shots in order to force a trade. _________________ Dumbledore closed his eyes and slowly lowered his head before Kupchak. Thanks for the prompt response.
Some of these questions are ridiculous. Why don't you ask if the Kobe is playing bad on purpose so that they make a trade for Garnett? or Bosh? or for Shaq?
How about this one. Kobe is playing poorly so that the Lakers rehire Jerry West and fire Kupcake?
Or this one. Kobe is playing poorly so that the Lakers will trade him to another team?
Sheesh. |
