Why not just put out a lineup of Sasha, Cook, Kobe, Smush, and George, our best three-point shooters? Yeah, I know that group would get killed, if not defensively, then on talent alone.
Yet keep in mind, you're only playing one possession, and it's on offense. That means whatever mismatches(unless it's against the other team, which this lineup would create) or defensive weaknesses you have, it doesn't matter.
The only thing left is to make that group believe(and be ready) that they can't be defended, which is true, because for one possession, they are as dangerous as any lineup in the league.
You can apply the same reasoning when you need ONE stop on defense. And if you think about it, if you have enough timeouts, you can actually make a team of one-way players performing as if they are two-way ones for a full minute or so.
Then if you considered the fact that a lot of games come down to the last minute or so. A great coach can upset a superior team if he can utilize this strategy effectively(actually he would be genius if he could do that).
