Live and die by the three offense:
Rudy Tom: Miss Playoffs
Mike Dantoni: Miss Playoffs with the most talented roster in the NBA arguably.
Post up offense:
Phil Jackson:
Make playoffs with some of the worst players the earth has ever seen.
But we all know Jerry Buss and crew wanted Showtime with an aging roster that can't play a lick of transition defense. Now since critics are blasting the front office and Dantoni, they're trying to slow it down. But the problem is, we have a no defense coach with no success in a half court offense trying to implement a half court offense. What the (bleep) happened to the greatest franchise.

Yes, but during the championship runs, the Laker bench was ridiculously good. _________________ The most important shot in basketball.

(bleep) Jim Buss. He let his petty feud ruin this team. I thought picking Mike Brown over Adelman was unfathomably stupid, and then he TOPS IT the next season. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
It's true. Antoni has Kobe take the most shots his taken in a long long while. 25 shots last game, 32 tonight, I'll be another 25 next game.. _________________

Funny how you conveniently omitted Mike Brown, probably because you (like most on here) probably hate him. But seems Kobe and the team did pretty good with him last year. Can't say about this year since he was only given 5 games before getting canned.

Mike Brown ran a post up offense but lacked rotations and a brain.

Keep in mind, if Jerry disagreed with Jim with his Phil hate, he would've overruled him. Both of them picked their personal dislike of Jackson over winning. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

We're 6 games under .500 with 4 future HoF'ers. This is almost entirely a roster issue. We need to accept the roster isn't as good as we thought it was going to be. It's just such an awkward mess and there isn't any fixing it without trades. Too many old players and too many worthless young players. You can't win with that combination in this league, regardless of who the coach is
I wanted Phil from the beginning mostly bc if we still continued to suck it would have been with the greatest coach of all time at the helm and there would be no excuses from anyone for our failures. Now everyone is just to going to pin the blame on coaching because it's the easy way out.

Yet with no training camp to speak of, we got the the 2nd round against the Thunder, and had a chance to win every game but the first one. Yeah, he has no brain.

hiring dantoni was a move that appealed to the Buss's ego, vanity, and the lure of counterintuition.
they have been trying to outsmart themsleves with coaching decisions outside of Phil for the past decade. all with disastrous results

No we hired the wrong guy

Agree to disagree, not trying to turn this into a Mike Brown coaching argument. The fact of the matter is, as long as Kobe Bryant is the main focal point and main leader of this team, Phil Jackson is the only coach for him because he had the confidence to tell him NO at times and force him to execute an offense where it was rightly labeled as an equal opportunity offense. Mike Brown had the right idea with the Princeton, but he had a problem of draining his players in practice, couldn't receive the respect of his alpha players and had a problem with rotations.
