Marshall B (steady guard, needs much more experience, could play Andre Miller role with time)

Farmar B (spark-change of pace guard, too injured to reach potential)

Henry C (flashes of wing/2 guard player with a eurostep, injured too much)

Young B+ (gunner bench guy, did what was expected and some D at times)

Meeks A- (candidate for MIP due to offseason work and MDA style)

Wes B- (good off ball defender, still lot to learn on D and O)

Pau C (never could figure out himself on court and in head and was too injured)

Hill C (good in small spurts especially beginning of season, not in right situation)

Kelly B- (possible future bench rotation guy)

Kaman C (played inconsistent due to MDA, would play better under different coach/system)

Sacre C (played tough, isn't starter quality)

Kobe C- (for the 6 games played, didn't work way into usual Kobe play, INC overall)

Nash D+ (for the 13 games played, when signed expected quality starter level Nash, got Lemon version, INC overall)

Brooks D (not used by MDA enough to showcase)

Bazemore C (flashes of youth needed, too little sample though for my tastes)

Blake B+ (when healthy before trade)

Training staff D+ (amazing job they didn't get worst record in league with this snake bitten year, Vitti putting band-aids on a situation. Jimbo better be calling Alex McKechnie to get him back from Toronto and give him what he wants to make the healthy again)

MDA and staff D (not an F due to unforseen injuries, but could never get a proper system and defensive philosophy in place to take advantage of the players on team)

Jimbo/Mitch C--/D+ (not F due to a decent plan given the circumstances at the beginning of the season that went to hell really quick with injuries a quarter of the way in, etc.)

Bye.

Jodie was easily our best player this year.

Most consistently productive on both ends of the floor.

Our worst player has to be Wes Johnson. Underwhelming and inconsistent.

So when people assign "grades," is it on a curve system? Meaning, there are A-players on the team, some F-players, most in the middle?

Are you comparing these players vis-a-vis other NBA players?

I say grade on a curve. If that's the system, only A player to me is Meeks.

B: Young, Farmar, Kelly.

Rest, all are C and below.

Kobe and Nash? People can say "incomplete" but I have to give them Fs.

I agree with this across the board. I think Blazemre could be a bit more enticing with a full season behind him. Brooks as well. I just didn't see enough of them to make a decision.

And Kobe will make everyone better so I am excited to see who we keep and who leaves this year. I think if Hill stayed healthy all year, he would be an A. He has injury problems which hampers him so much. But a full year of him with the team would make him one hell of a starter. That being said, with injuries, I think he is a great 6th man on a team. limit him on minutes and keep his ass at 100%

Agreed.

Do you realize that you have nine above average, one at average, and one below. The team was 27-55 (.329--the second worst of all time for a Lakers team in 65 years). This was not a B- overall team

yup. Agreed.

But I think they were grading within the context of a bell-curve within just the team. But yeah, not a true scientific grading but hey that's fine with me.

The problem with grading the team is that there are so many injuries to throw off the straight grading.

If this was a plain crappy team that wasn't the second most injured of all time, then it would be easier to at least put everyone down at least one guy, the way I graded. Most of the ones I graded had the injury qualification and expectation when signed or when the season started.

Bye.

Injured for most of year:
Kobe N/A
Nash C+

Traded:
Blake B+

I was impressed by Meeks and Henry. They gave us way more than we thought we would get from them. Kelly was a pleasant surprise. I think he'll be a solid rotation player. I wish Kaman and Hill had received more playing time. Pau was decent. Wes Johnson showed flashes, but needs to work on his jump shot. Marshon Brooks barely got a shot.

My expectation was qualified on the playing time of Kobe, Gasol and Nash: "If they play 170, I see about 38 victories. For every 10 games over, I will add another victory. For every 10 games under, I will subtract a victory." Based on the actual games played for the three, my prediction of games won would be 29, or very similar to the actual result.
