Quote: | Reports: Luol Deng agrees to two years, $20 million deal with Miami
Miami isn’t going to be the title contenders they were last season, but they are going to be good. And interesting.
Luol Deng, who had been negotiating with Heat for days but was trying to leverage discussions from Atlanta and Dallas into more, has settled on a deal with Miami, something first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
After losing LeBron James, the Miami Heat have reached agreement with free-agent forward Luol Deng on a two-year, $20 million contract, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Deng will likely hold a player option on the 2015-16 season, a source said.
Remember that Deng reportedly turned down a three-year, $30 million extension with the Bulls.
You certainly can’t say Miami has had a good offseason, but Pat Riley has bounced back about as well as can be expected.
The Heat will role out a starting five of Norris Cole/Shabazz Napier, Dwyane Wade (he will re-sign), Deng, Josh McRoberts, and an overpaid but effective Chris Bosh. That’s a playoff team and a tough out in the first round at least in Miami.
Deng is a strong defender who can get you points as the roll man or cutting off the ball. As a third scoring option he can work. |

So they lose Lebron and have Deng now? Where do you guys think Miami will finish in the east? I still think they will be a playoff team in the east, maybe the 4 or 5 seed if Wade comes back. |

Yep. The talent is still there for Top 4-5 in the East. The conference is a tad more balanced now with LeBron in Celeveland. And the Wiz and Bulls just got better. _________________ |

Deng is a good player, but let's be real. Lebron was not only their best player, he was their best playmaker too. He was the guy making plays and setting up other guys. You put that on Wade's shoulders again he won't last half a season. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

If Wade comes back, they'll be a 6th-8th seed. _________________ 1996-2016

with how horrible the east is they're still easily a playoff team even with some injury problems imo.. if things go well they could be a 4-6 seed...
who knows though, 4 straight finals and being deflated with lebron leaving could also cause them to crumble if they start off the season bad... |

Miami is the definition of a treadmill team now.. they're going to make it to the playoffs, but be easy 1st or 2nd round fodder. |

The East is really, really bad guys. The Nets were horrible most of the year and went to the 2nd round.
I'd be surprised if Miami doesn't finish 4th or so in the East. |

Isn't Bosh going to be making more than Lebron? _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

In terms of yearly NBA salary, they make pretty much the same. |

So has Riley already announced the scheduled absences between Wade and Deng due to injury and maintenance?
Oh...I totally forgot about Granger. |

Remember Deng when the Bulls wanted to trade him for Kobe. Now he's replacing Lebron. |

They lost Lebron but they shored up the rest of their team. I think they aren't going to be as worse as people think they are considering how few power teams there are in the east. |
