Theres your answer....
http://espn.go.com/nba/team/depth/_/name/lal/los-angeles-lakers
Nick Young is injured so they have to play him lots of minutes. |
The chart explains why Wes Johnson plays 35 but not why Ed Davis, 5-5, solid on D and great on the p&r with PGs gets only 20. |

You have to get used to how Lin plays. He's unorthodox and he isn't really like a PG or an SG, he's something in between. He played well enough tonight but this still isn't a Lin A game and as I was trying to tell the board, he comes alive in the 2nd half, 4th quarter particularly and makes clutch plays.
I don't like the jump and at the last moment pass on the way down habit he does, don't know why he does that and sometimes he still dribbles too much but he played a good B B+ game and pretty much took care of the ball (not forcing bad passes, handling double teams well tonight especially) | you have really summed lin up in a nutshell. he is a good player and learning. once he becomes consistent he will become dangerous and lakers will win games. this team desperately needs a good pg, it's up to lin to seize the opportunity he has in front of him and really no excuses this time regarding coaches, etc because scott is sticking with him. i hope all goes well with him and he continues this. |
Mr. Bryant believes in him so he just may. How long it takes for good consistency is the big question. |
Finally Kobe was seeing Lin for open look 3s that have been there many times before. Kobe passing up long range contested fallaway 2s for any player, but especially Lin with open looks is so preferable. I hope the chemistry that was at times evident tonight continues and grows. If the players don't move the ball around and move around without the ball as they did tonight they stand no chance against Memphis. |

To people on this forum, those numbers come from a "scrub" that can't start. | not saying lin can't start, he just has to do what he did tonight on a consistent basis and the lakers will win. frustrating thing is he'll have a game like this and next game act like he never saw a basketball court before. hopefully this is start of something good for him. i want him to succeed, it seems when he plays well lakers win. |
in his three horrible games he had 5, 5, and 6 FGAs
in his three good games he had 13, 8, and 12 FGAs. it's ALL about how much he shoots. Jeremy is a SCORING guard first and foremost--that is his bread and butter and that is WHAT THIS TEAM NEEDS HIM TO DO. the assists are all gravy. Jeremy has to shoot shoot and shoot and then he has to shoot some more. and he's gotta do that even when he's cold. |
Lin can be a great player but he needs help from his team and Bryant as happened tonight. There have been many times in previous games that Lin had open look 3s but never got the ball. In order to drive to the basket as he can often do well it also requires the rest of the team to be moving with and without the ball so that lanes open up. |

If Sacre can make those over 50 percent of the time I'm ok with it but I'd rather go with Ed Davis' 5-5 shooting. |

Sorry man. I stopped reading at "Boozer is the key" ...

That's when the team got going last night - when Kobe and Lin got Booze involved in the 3rd. They made their push there and took over the game then. Like it or not. |

The Grizzlies are very beatable. They're not going to score much so a quarter or two of hot shooting like last night would get it done. |

yes I think we have a chance against them too, eventhough they have been unbeatable at home for some time _________________ "We have a lot of guys that have been kinda discarded ... Here is my serious response. Sorry was being flip before.
Yes, Boozer was really important to win last night. He had a mismatch with M Williams, and Lakers' ability to exploit it was key to their 3rd Q run.
Until he's putting out more effort on D, and pulling down more rebounds, though, I am not sure he is a better option than Davis overall even if he is having a good offensive night. And that's what I was responding to.
I do agree that having a more balanced scoring attack is important for lakers to get better. And the more of a dangerous scoring threat Boozer becomes the better for Lakers. |

You never know.
The LA Dfenders played their first game vs. the Bakersfield Jam tonight. The leading scorer for the D-fenders - Vander Blue.
Just for the heckuva of it, Lakers ought to call Vander up. The Sacre Blue era would define this period of misery to a T.

You know what's funny is kobe looked the best I've seen him tonight while only scoring 21. If he could become this Kobe every night I think we still fight for a playoff seed this year! Once you draw a double or triple team, you've already won, the next step is hit your open teammates. They are all in the NBA I know they can hit open shots when given the opportunity. Think about guys down at the YMCA. Even those guys get buckets if left open lol |
