If anyone but MDA was hired, Gasol would still be here. Stupid Jim Buss.
Yep, and I can't believe some Laker "fans" still want MDA.....
He help contribute to Pau's doubts as a Laker by playing him out of position not to mention he wasn't exactly the coach D12 wanted.

What's really stupid is posters thinking Gasol being here would be good for the franchise. You either make the playoffs, or tank hard to have a chance at keeping your protected top 5 pick. Him still being a Laker would add another 5 meaningless wins to this season and possibly costing the Lakers a high draft pick.

Ditto, the front office F up big time. Spurs didn't need to blow up their 'old' trio and tank for stupid picks. Too bad Lakers have Jimbo to thank for this debacle - Kobe's injury, bad coaches, team made up of scrubs.
CONGRATS Pau! Show the Lakers FO how they screwed up!
The biggest mistake that was made was not trading Pau sooner when we could have gotten something good in return. Instead we did nothing and let him go for nothing.

Pau's one of my favorite laker players of all time and sort of wish we still had him but, man, after watching some of the heat Bulls game, he still has no defensive presence under the rim and got just eaten alive by Hassan whiteside. The pau that helped us win two chips is long gone.

You mean trading him again.
Yes, actually since the 1st time which got vetoed I think we got indecisive expecting the world for him. As he has shown he is sti good enough to be an all star albeit in the east, it was a huge miss to get nothing.
Contrast the celtics who now have 9 1st round picks over the next 5 years.
Gasol has always been a matador on defense, save for his first 3-4 years with us. Those 18 points don't look as good when you consider how many he gives away. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Pau Gasol is an all-star starter this year.

After the beating the Bulls and watching Gasol. I'm reminded why I do not miss him. Would he make the all-star in the west? HELL NO.
This article pretty much nails it on two points that I was harping about when he was here. That is if you put any size on him, he does squat. This was the part that frustrated me when fans and media pundits say we should dump the ball to him. He will score on midgets, but is neutralized by size and even short stumpy players like Chuck Hayes. I remember how funny it was that he had issues with Chuck Hayes and guys like Carl Landry. Secondly, the article nails it on his defense, or lack of.
This is pretty hilarious. Anybody who has watched Bulls games this season knows that, no Gasol, not even 50 % winning percentage for them this year.
Noah, although improving, is still a shadow of himself. Gibson is a tough and athletic player, but completely clueless in the paint offensively. Rose is not only playing terrible basketball, but is being a complete danger for his team, constantly reminding Butler and Pau whose team this is...McDermott proved himself a bust. Dunleavy is,well, Dunleavy.. Hinrich has gone completely nuts, chucking absurd shot after absurd shot...
The only positives are Pau, who has played excellent offensive basketball (not so on the defensive end), Butler, who has been beasting most of the time, Mirotic and Brooks.
Well, lets see how Pau does without Noah next to him. If Noah is injured from that ankle roll and is out for an extended period, the Bulls will see just how much of a defender Pau is NOT. Not bashing on him, he was one of my fav Lakers and I am glad he is doing great. I just get tired of the media saying how the Lakers must be kicking themselves for letting him go.
Yup. This really gets annoying because it's not true. The Lakers wanted to re-sign him. They offered more money and a no trade clause. Pau just wanted a better situation
You're wrong. It's true. They could have given him $15+M and a no trade clause instead of $10M, which is what Hill gets. Insulting to have Hill be paid the same as a Gasol.
So even though it was higher than what other people offered him, it was still insulting in addition to all the insults he's had to endure from management and the lame ass c(r)oaches that we've had.
?? Hill wouldn't have gotten that if Pau re-signed.
Pau wouldn't have gotten that offer if Anthony or the other free agents the Lakers pursued had signed. You seem to understand there was a sequence to things except when it comes to understanding that the Lakers made Gasol an offer as an afterthought.
Same scenario in Chicago and yet he accepted their offer. They wanted Melo before him too
Their franchise isn't going to (bleep). Better coach, better front office, and they hadn't been the ones slighting Gasol, the Lakers were. I'm pretty sure the Bulls weren't the team trying to trade Gasol the past several years, so no... not the same scenario.
I wish I could have traded places with Gasol so I could deal with the "insult" of making $10 million.
About as lame an argument as arguments get. Apples to oranges is the best you can do? The market he's in is not the market you're in, or the market that most of us are in.

This Pau had 17 rebounds and 4 blocks in that game, and is averaging 18/12/3 with 2.2 bpg. Statistically, he's still pretty close to that Pau when he's healthy, and he's mostly been healthy.

O-Rating 112
D-Rating 101
3rd best differential on the Bulls. (Butler, Mirotic)

That's the point! His situation is so incredibly great that I'm not going to feel any sympathy for him at all. Let's see the average person get offered $10 million dollars and complain that the offer is an insult to him/her. I see people celebrate in casinos when they win a few hundred dollars.

It's really incredible to me how people actually feel sympathy for a guy that made over $100 million in his career and was offered $10 million more. I think that is about as lame as anything I've seen posted here in a while. How dare I say that a guy who makes so much should be happy with the situation he is in!
Maybe Gasol should retire and find something else to do because his life must be really tough when he is only making millions in the NBA.

This is the type of reasoning that leads to people like Stephon Marbury complaining that he was making ONLY $71 million.
You either get that part about Marbury or you don't. If I have to explain to you that $71 million or $10 million or the more than $100 million that Gasol made in his career is an incredible amount of money, then who is making lame arguments again?

So like I said, Chicago was a better situation for Pau to win. He has said as much. And despite evidence to the contrary you refuse to believe it. If you continue to think our $10M + no trade offer was a slight to Pau, but the $7M offer from Chicago wasn't then that's your problem
The biggest mistake that was made was not trading Pau sooner when we could have gotten something good in return. Instead we did nothing and let him go for nothing.

yep.
Pau deserved better.
Think Pop or SAN didn't get great offers for Parker in the 2007-2010 era? I'm sure they did?
I'm sure that if the coaching staff weren't being changed that move doesn't happen.
For Pau it was like being fired and having to go back to work again. For Lamar too.
I said it then, and I say it now. That was one of the worst decisions Lakers ever made. I wasn't against a smart Lamar Odom trade, but dealing Pau was strike 1 in my faith in this FO regime bringing another championship to the. Lakers. See how many rings the Clippers are winning, guys?
People thought I was too attached to Pau as a Laker or something like that. All it was - the chemistry and winning formula Pau and Kobe had shown. It's rare you can find a 1-2 punch that works that well. We made a big mistake. Chris Paul is very overrated in my book, even though he's a fantastic player.
Fourth best big continues to struggle. Only 26, 16, and 3 assists today. What a horrible signing. Imagine what Vince Carter or Paul Pierce could have done instead of Pau today with Noah in foul trouble and Gibson struggling. Dumb Bulls.

Pau almost always puts up good stats, but in crunch time he more often than not comes up flat. Happened too often last 2-3 years with us and it happened in the 4th in this game. Whiteside owned him. It is what it is. Pau's not wearing purple and gold anymore so I'm ambivalent about his performance,

Haters still trying to justify their incompetent point of view. The guy now only has his 13th traight double-double! Let's see, who has the second best straight double-double ever on the Bulls? Jordan who had 15. Gasol's 34th double double is NBA best ahead of Cousins.
People continue to make fools of themselves, including the Bulls blogger _________________ Ahhhh, those were the days...time for a new beginning!
