Quote: | Raptors Reportedly Sign Maccabi's Anthony Parker
11th July, 2006 - 9:30 am
Draftexpress.com - The Toronto Raptors have made some unorthodox moves this offseason and another one is abound with the reported signing of Macabbi Tel Aviv star Anthony Parker.
One year after the Indiana Pacers imported Macabbi's star Sarunas Jasikevicius, the Raptors bring in the explosive 31 year old Parker.
The Raptors are reportedly paying $500,000 of Parker's $1.5 million buyout with the team and will pay Parker $12 million over three years.
Parker was drafted with the 21st pick overall out of Bradley University by the New Jersey Nets in the 1997 NBA Draft, but he has not played in the NBA since the 1999-2000 season.
The 6'6" Parker will most likely be the Raptors' starting small forward

Sadly, many don't quite understand that... It would have taken MLE money to sign him. |

I have a feeling he is going to be worth more than that in return. _________________ A proud member of LakersGround.net for over 10 years [since April 28, 2001] |

If he were, he'd be in the league the last 5 years.... |

Good player, good signing. Out of our price range since we took Radmanovic for the MLE.

Parker is a hell of a player in Europe. But he's slowed down some last season, I wonder if he could be over the hill now. For a year or two he should be good and give them more depth.
Ford/Calderon
Peterson/Parker
Graham/Bargnani
Bosh/Humphries/Bargnani
Nesterovic/Sow
That's not a bad roster at all considering the way they looked last year. _________________ Win now - win what? |

Why would he? He was on a winning team, getting enuff money and he had risen into a god-like figure in Israel. I would take that any day over a place on the bench in some mediocre NBA team. _________________ I want to say something about Dwayne Wade, but I fear I may get called for a foul.

Especially that European salaries are listed tax- and agent's commission-free so making around 2 Million Euros per year is at least as good as the NBA MLE. _________________ Win now - win what? |
