We end up losing the pick?
Right now there's a 17.2% chance that we draw outside of the top 5...sending the pick to Philly.
In this thread, please describe what your reaction will be. What are you doing to prepare for the nightmare scenario? What will be your first tweet/Instagram/Status update?
Personally if we lose the pick, I call for Byron Scott's head on a platter.
I'll probably pour a tall glass of bourbon, no ice and get wrecked. Probably roll a nice thick blunt.
Then I'm going to prepare some picket signs and heading down to Laker's HQ and calling for Jim and Mitch's head for botching the tank this season.
What will you do?
It won't be no different than watching Magic pull a hammy in the 89 finals, Suns running circles around us in 90' when it was suppose to be our pay-back year, MJ killing us in 91, Magic announcement of HIV, Kobe Colorado thing, Kobe going down with a torn Achilles, Julius breaking his leg... What I'm saying is that it will be the same punch to the stomach in some shape or form that we've experienced before as Laker fans. A lot of quiet time... and then you pick up your jaws and move on with your life.
I'm not a fan of building through the draft. Obviously I don't want to lose the pick, but it would go to show everyone that tanking is NOT a recipe for success.
Tell that to San Antonio, OKC, Golden State, and Atlanta.
From my POV, Atlanta doesn't belong in that group.*
Out of the five players that the Hawks have drafted and still have on their roster, Horford is the only Lottery pick and the other four players were drafted outside of the Lottery.
______________
The Spurs have already been discussed multiple times on LG.
It's still building through the draft. Three of their key cogs on a team that's made the Eastern Confence Finals were top 20 picks. That's clearly building through the draft when three of your best players are draft picks.
Earlier the discussion was about tanking with Atlanta being placed by you in a group with OKC and Golden State.
Now you have moved the goal posts to a discussion about building through the draft.
What the hell are you talking about? My statement was those four teams all built through the draft. I never wavered from that stance and provided the proof. Duncan, Ginobli, Parker, Leonard all draft picks. Atlanta with Schroder, Horford, and Teague. OKC with KD, Westbrook, and Ibaka. Golden State, Curry, Klay, Barnes and Green.
I'll be here, engaging in random flame wars as LG self-destructs!
Actually, I'll be over at the chowderheads forum pi$$ing them off! _________________ Starting Lakers Dynasty6.0! NOW!!

One more thing I forgot to add: if we lose the pick, I hope the top 5 players picked turn out to be busts and it ends up being one of the worst drafts in memory... That would be sweet justice _________________ RIP Kobe and Gigi <333

I will blame the FO if we lose this pick. But if we grab a great FA it'll soften the blow. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

Quit putting words in my mouth.

You should have deleted the bolded when you quoted kwase.

I already let out all my frustration and anger through the season on how we didnt go all in and just crap out to worse record in the league which would lock us into a top pick. I've already accepted what "can" happen and am pretty numb to it.
I hope we get our pick regardless of where it's at, but I won't be that thrilled to grab #5. Unless we make an unexpectedly big splash in FA, adding a guy like Winslow is unlikely to push us out of a single-digit pick, and we'd lose that pick instead.
Picking 5 this year vs picking 8 next year isn't a life-changer for me. Grabbing top 3 would be huge, though.
