"Free agent DeShawn Stevenson agreed to terms with the Washington Wizards on Thursday, his agent, Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.com. According to Bartelstein, Stevenson agreed to a two-year contract worth the NBA minimum salary. Since he has six-plus years of service, that would be $932,015 for the first year. Stevenson has a player option in the second year of the contract." ESPN.com

"The deal is a pretty big blow to Stevenson financially. He opted out of a contract this spring that would have paid him $3 million and then turned down a three-year, $10 million contract from the Magic in early July." ESPN.com\

Had Denver not have traded for JR Smith, they probably would've offered Stevenson a larger contract and playing time.

That's a good pickup for Washington. A steal.

Agreed Flight, that from a talent perspective for the minimum vet salary it's a steal.

The one thing I would be worried about is that Stevenson goes out and tries to play outside the team in an effort to pump up his numbers for his next contract. His agent made direct comments about how this is Stevenson's year to prove himself so he can go out and re-coup the money he lost in opting out and then rejecting the Magic's offer.

I wonder what other offers were there along the way that he turned down.

Stevenson was in trouble before he ever signed a NBA contract.
