Quote:
Kenny Smith's dream may come true ... 'cause "Inside the NBA" has reached out to Kobe Bryant to see if he wants a job, TMZ Sports has learned.
Both Kenny and Shaq have publicly talked about wanting Kobe to join the panel on the TNT show after he retired from the NBA ... and now, our sources tell us the courting has officially begun.
It's unclear if producers are trying to lock Kobe up to join the guys for the current NBA playoffs ... or if they're looking more toward getting him as a regular for next season.
As one well-placed source connected to the show put it ... "We'd love to have Kobe."
Our sources say Kobe is still evaluating all of his post-NBA options and hasn't made a decision about what he wants to do ... but ya gotta believe he's taking this offer seriously.
Unless they move the show from ATL to LA, I don't think he'll do it on a regular basis with his busy schedule. I can see him doing the NBA show with Jalen Rose, which is filmed out of ESPN LA. That would actually make for an interesting dynamic.

Lot's of "hey, remember when I dropped 81 on you" references.
I hope this happens. He's a genius with basketball knowledge and the times he's guest starred he's been impressive _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview
I could see Kobe working in the media for the odd game but I couldn't see him working full-time in the media at the moment. _________________ Coach MWP.
I'd like him to guest star occasionally. Every day? Nah, they're all clowns and I think Kobe would lose his appeal in that group after a certain while.
I could see him doing the same thing Magic did years ago. Pop in here and there on Inside the NBA but not be a full-time panelist. I liked him the time he was on years ago. I think it was during the 2006 playoffs.

Yeah he gave a very well-reasoned argument for why he stopped shooting in the 2nd half of Game 7..
Kobe would literally kill himself watching those games and knowing he can't go out there and lace em up. Would drive him mad. I'd imagine he would want to stay away from basketball, as far away, at least for a couple years while he becomes rooted to his new life. Watching those games, analyzing, probably going to make him want to play. _________________ A banana is killed every time a terrible thread or post is made. Save the bananas. Great way to keep his brand visibility. Probably not an everyday gig but some key games and stretches. He would kill it too. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night.

Yup. That would be perfect. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
Sorry folks, Kobe is GONE. You will see him even less than Jordan.
We see Jordan quite a bit if not in highlights by NBA shows talking about who the next Jordan will be its them usually showing him at Hornets games since he owns the team.
So saying we'll see him less than Jordan isn't that great a comparison.
