Many athletes stay for the entire event and the hosting City somewhat on lock down during the Olympics. Do it for much longer and I'd imagine many more athletes will bail out before the closing ceremony and locals would lose patience of having to give up their city for so long.
Going forward it looks like internet streaming will be the way to go to catch coverage of non-primetime sports. |
Not so sure about that....many swimmers from most nations left after their events were done. With the perilous security situation of Rio, they were told not to leave the security zone so unlike other Olympics they couldn't just wander around. I'd imagine they got bored and just decided to go home. |

I'm sure other corporate sponsor would relish the opportunity to get out of paying him. At 32, his Olympic career and fame is likely over anyway. I laughed when I saw how he'd changed his hair back to normal for the Matt Lauer interview.
I read an article that even Phelps would have a difficult time parlaying his Olympic success now that his career is over. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

The only thing Phelps needs to do is hire himself a speech coach. The public speaking circuit is waiting on him and any words of wisdom. He'll make a 100 stacks a gig easily. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

C'mon guys it's Rio. It's a dumpster. Hopefully he gets his sponsors back. |
They were out of pocket maybe $50, which sounds like a fair square for them acting like drunken fools outside the Olympic Village. The matter was settled and everyone had gone their separate ways...until Lyin Ryan decided he needed some cheap headlines. So no, he shouldn't get his sponsors back. If you're gonna make up a story, either do a better job, or just tell the truth. And lies of omission are just as bad as lies of commission. And in this case, it's not the exaggeration that got Lochte, it's what he left out. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

That's not exactly what happened though. He never initially went to the media. He told his Mom and she ended up blabbing his embellished story to the media. His fault for not coming clean though. I really could care less about his endorsements but I find it curious that Phelps with not one but two DUI's under his belt, which is several orders of magnitudes far more egregious of a crime, never had such backlash. It's almost laughable. |

But you see, Phelps has a beautiful little baby and beautiful fiancee and a mother that sacrificed SO MUCH, and he will finally spend more time with them. Weren't the 675 shots of his family before, during, and after his races convincing enough? You should be ashamed of yourself for denying that Phelps went through an incredible amount of adversity to get where he is now.
Btw, every time they showed his fiancee, she was simultaneously crying and laughing and hugging his mother. It all felt so rehearsed and so perfect, but it was exactly what NBC wanted to appeal to the audience. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

NBC has decided to make the Olympics one big giant human interest story. Somebody needs to play the role of the good guy and somebody needs to play the role of the bad guy. Sucks for the casual viewers they have to watch this melodramatic BS instead of just being a casual observer of an athletic competition. |

1. Why lie to Momma? Hmmm?? No momma worth her salt is going to stand for her baby getting robbed and not say something to somebody. So again, I ask, why is he telling tall tales of such a serious nature to his MOTHER??!!!
2. Michael Phelps was smart enough to not cut up DURING the Olympics. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe. |

Quote: | U.S. Soccer suspended goalie Hope Solo from the U.S. women’s national soccer team for six months for her divisive comments aimed at Sweden during the Rio Games, the organization announced Wednesday night.
“The comments by Hope Solo after the match against Sweden during the 2016 Olympics were unacceptable and do not meet the standard of conduct we require from our National Team players,” U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati said in a statement. “Beyond the athletic arena, and beyond the results, the Olympics celebrate and represent the ideals of fair play and respect. We expect all of our representatives to honor those principles, with no exceptions.” |

The bird from the Tecate commercial nods at USA Soccer. According to a report on W.T.F., they terminated her national team contract, too. |
