Magic could have played every position at a HOF level. I love Kobe but Magic was better in my mind. _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? If you know PM me please

Just add 8 + 24 and retire that number for Kobe.
Don't even try to argue with me. I have thought this through! |

I think the Lakers should move Banners and retired Jersies off the wall and hang them in the rafters like the Kings do, that way the Flippers cant cover them up |

It is almost embarrassing as a fan to have a discussion like this. I think Kareem is the greatest player to hold a basketball, but Magic is in the discussion, as are Kobe and Shaq. We have been so fortunate. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I'll take it that you're joking. But since it's already up there, Lakers don't need to do anything then. |

Kareem's prime years didn't net the Lakers anything. Imagine if Magic and Kareem's prime coincided, I think they would have monopolized the league. But as it turns out, the truth is Magic was the main guy in all those title runs. In 1980, at 34 yrs, that was the youngest Kareem Magic would get to play with in the finals, and even then, Kareem missed the finals. Everything to me, points towards Magic being the more important of the two. And especially the last back to back in 87-88, Kareem was basically a shell of himself. Magic to me, is the greatest Laker of all time.
Ah, let me edit myself. You said PLAYER, not Laker. Ah, in which case, you may be right.

BTW Snipes, I don't mean it the way you do. I'm not telling you to stop because Magic was far greater. You feel so matter of fact about it, that everyone needs to STOP because Kobe was FAR better. It is absolutely debatable and neither is FAR greater than the other. That's the most ridiculous thing about your statement, it was the word FAR. |

so here's my idea.... I remember growing up in the 80s and having those playing cards where if you changed the viewing angle then the picture would change. It would basically alternate between two pictures as the viewing angle changed. I think that would be something they could employ here so that both numbers are shown at the "same time" and they only have 1 jersey up there for him. I think this would be the perfect solution and would include a little LA flair. |

nice thing to say from J.Lin:
Then later as his mentor in L.A. Despite all the losing —and bile— Lin learned a lot...
"I remember (Kobe) being very detailed. Every small thing, he already knows what he’s going to do. His training, his footwork, his workout, how to protect his body, he already knows everything. He’s extremely detailed. After every game, he would use his laptop to watch film on the plane. Usually, players sleep, listen to music, play cards / gamble, etc. He’s always watching film. After seeing him do that, I also started watching film after every game." |

you can even put those 3 names in the argument of GOAT along with MJ, not just Lakers (maybe not Kobe, but def Kareem and maybe Magic) |

Kobe and Magic were both great; I think Magic was better, but at the very least there's no way Kobe's clearly better than Magic, or Kareem for that matter, to say Kobe deserves 2 jerseys hung from the rafters. Hanging 2 jerseys for one player would just look stupid. Then it'll start happening for other players in 2 decades when Kobe's star has faded and everyone thinks the newest star is better.
Hang #24 in the rafters, put #8 on the statue, retire both numbers and call it a day. |

Hang a jersey that says 24 but depending on how the light hits it, it'll change colours and become 8. Magic ink? _________________
