And yet he's got 10 wins before January and Byron had 17 all last year. Luke's learning on the job, Byron had 3 HC jobs in 13 years under his belt when he took over in LA. I don't even think it's close in terms of their ability to coach or their understanding of the game. |

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm taking Luke over Byron any day and twice on Sunday.
But he is still one loss away from a distinction even the woeful Byron couldn't muster. |

Injuries combined with this ridiculous road trip really compounded our issues. These past few weeks have definitely been frustrating, especially considering we've had a good chance to win a bunch of these games.
Here's to hoping Luke can figure it out. He at least seems to be willing to try, whereas Byron just continually pounded his head against the wall and kept making the same mistakes until Kobe or Lou Will got hot and bailed him out and we actually won a game. |

I was skeptical when we signed him because he wanted to emulate everything Kerr and the Warriors were doing. We don't have the personnel to play the way they do consistently. They have blown two straight 19 point leads which is unacceptable. The players aren't playing with enough effort for him. Luke will be coaching for his job next season. |

I think Luke will make some line up changes soon to shake things up....it seems like he was trying to stay true to a certain rotation to build up chemistry and confidence presumably and it worked fine in the beginning but there isn't consistency of effort with the groups (I know there have been some injuries and players out).
I'd like to see Ingram start at the SF and at C I'd like to see Moz come off the bench with black starting if healthy if not either robinson or even zubac
Swaggy seems to be fine at the 2 amazingly, but part of me wants to see JC start with that group to see if that might help get him out of his funk and play with a unit with more guys who distribute....The second unit might get iso heavy but we'd have good rebounding bodies up front with nance, moz and even deng...so them bombing away might be ok |

I've heard of revisionist history but you've completely revised your entire opinion of Luke from last year with this post. Luke not giving Clarkson whatever he wants must reallly be getting to you. |

Highly doubtful considering the game script was identical in the previous game when we had those two. (Well, 1/2 a Nance I guess). |

I know Luke wants to be the players best friend but he's gonna have to risk it and shorten the rotations and bench players when they aren't performing. |

This team, spreading the wealth approach isn't working. We should just focus our offense on randle and russell. Try to develop them into a dynamic duo ASAP. Barring a significant trade, we're not gonna make the playoffs either way. So give our future guys as many touches and mins as possible. |

The 10-10 stretch might have raised expectations too much. This is a young team with a young coach. Patience is key. Luke will make mistakes just like the players will make mistakes.
One thing is for certai: this team is nowhere near good enough to be competitive on a consistent basis missing a rotation player. To maximize the potential Luke was relying on a legit 10 man rotation. Missing key startes and bench players is not something a team this young can deal with.
The next month will be interesting. Everyone coming back healthy. No Nance.
How will they respond? |
