hope he gets some time on the floor tonight and going forward.
he looks great on defense + with his leaping ability and weak side help.
and scoring wise he looks like he plays in the paint and attacks the rim with force and doesnt settle for many jump shots.
What a week it has been for these Lakers.. but its all moving in the right direction so far. another good move by the Front Office.
If anything its an upgrade for Russell and JC in practices, to go from Marcelo and Calderon guarding them to this guy
This makes me very happy, I want the young guys to be more tested during practice by good defenders. Hopefully the dude sticks around
He's a local kid who went undrafted in both the NBA and D-League drafts too. That alone makes him a good story. That's how Jonathan Simmons made his way to the Spurs. _________________ Austin Reaves

Sometimes you see players from the D-League getting 10 day contracts and then they make it in the NBA just look at Jonathan Simmons with the Spurs. I'm not saying Nwaba is going to make it with the Lakers but I'm all for the Lakers giving players from the D-League a chance from now until the end of the season. As long as the young core are all playing, it still leaves some playing time for other players.
The Lakers are in need of players who can play defense it's something the Lakers lack and aren't that good at. Nwaba is being mentioned as good defensively which hopefully he's able to show during his time in this 10 day contract. _________________ Coach MWP.

I could be the guard version of Larry Nance. Insane hops, unselfish play- passes up shots a lot- and good D. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss

I was thinking the same. 2nd unit defense should be a bit better with him and LNJ out there.
David Nwaba will go from lifelong fan to Lakers player Tuesday night against Charlotte
Nwaba, who went undrafted out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2016 and has never played in the NBA, signed a 10-day contract with the Lakers and will be in uniform for Tuesday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at Staples Center.
“It’s pretty crazy growing up a Lakers fans and dreaming about this day, and it’s finally happening,” Nwaba, a former Los Angeles University High standout, said after Tuesday’s shoot-around. “It’s a great feeling.”

Guys like Brewer and Nwaba will make life difficult for Ingram/Russel/Clarkson in practice. Hopefully this guy can stick. He seems to have semi-elite physical tools based on his solid frame, crazy wingspan, and explosiveness. He must not be very skilled?

Guards with broken shots aren't looked upon favorably I guess? For me --- give the Lakers his elite athleticism and we can work on everything else. IMO, you can learn to shot. Harder to learn defensive instincts.
So far what I like about Magic is that he's looking and trying new players hoping to find that diamond in the rough. He's not sitting back and waiting for things to happen or for the loses to continue without a reply from the FO. One of the things I loved about Dr. Buss was his hatred of losing. If the Lakers lost more than three games, changes were definitely coming, I always knew he was about making the Lakers the best. There have been cases where stars have come out of the D-league, hopefully Nwaba will be one of those.
Lol, not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but it would be great if we can finally be the team to pull a no name out of the D-League and have him become a solid rotation player. Hopefully an Ian Clark/Jonathan Simmons-type story...
Luke Walton Speaks On What David Nwaba Will Bring To Lakers
Quote:
Shahan Ahmed ✔ @shahanLA
"I think it's important we get defensive minded people in here," Luke Walton said re David Nwaba. Luke said team trying to build D identity.
Adding Nwaba should make the Lakers' bench a defensive team. There are players on the bench who are known for their defense. Whether its from the NBA, D-League or College (Luol Deng, Larry Nance, Corey Brewer, David Nwaba). Zu has the potential to be a defensive center. Luke says Jordan improved his defense.
