Luke Walton: Lakers will ask UCLA about LaVar Ball
Quote: | The Lakers are getting the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NBA draft, and now everyone's wondering if they're really going to select UCLA's Lonzo Ball, just as Lonzo's outspoken father LaVar Ball has been saying all along.
On Friday's Dan Patrick Show, Luke was asked if he's going to call UCLA coach Steve Alford to talk about how involved LaVar was while his son played for the Bruins. Luke replied:
"I wouldn't personally, but yes, somebody in our organization will. Absolutely."
However, Luke added that they're not concerned about LaVar at the moment.
"I'm mostly concerned with what player can help us win more than 26 games the most," the LA head coach said. |

Yea he might be feeling a bit conflicted, although building something yourself is pretty rewarding. |

I don't think so. Luke came in LA with the mission to accomplish. His success , if happens, will be much more satisfying for him than to coach Durant, Curry, Thompson and Green after Kerr. I mean if he succeed to build championship team basically from ZERO it will be mountain high for him and his career. Imagine his status after potential ring in 4-5 years starting from nothing. |

Nope, Luke is exactly where he belongs and where he should be.
Luke has his dream job right now and is probably too busy to look back. |

Brown is winning with GS super team.
Coming to the second worst team in entire NBA Luke gave himself the chance to build something.
Making us a playoff team again in a couple of seasons he may build a name for himself while GS is Kerr's team. |

He may or may not be the best option, but I have a tough time thinking about someone that don't like the way Ball plays the game.

I have pretty much the same feeling watching Ball. |

I'm so glad Luke started playing DLO off the ball. I'm sure the FO was hoping to get one of the top guards in the draft and were testing the waters. Good team work. |

I guess Luke is banking on the Lakers improving shooting and defense through the power of friendship instead _________________ Austin Reaves

Lavar was a better shooter than Larry Bird and better defender than Dennis Rodman. Hell, he's a better motivator than Tony Robbins. I think he's the perfect coach for this team. |

Anyone else think magic may replace luke walton in the future too, since he seems to want to have everyone be his choice? _________________ Kobe |

I wonder what Luke feels about this trade or does he get a say whether or not DLO leaves? |

No. Luke Walton is like BI... totally Magic's guy even though he's from the old regime.
My bigger concern is Luke doesn't end up as good as we all hoped. |

He made a bunch of dumb decisions over the course of the year but it was his first year so we should give him a pass. It also took him too long to play the starting five that we all wanted him to play. But at the same time you gotta factor in the FO having a say into who should be playing... _________________ Kobe |

I think since Luke won rings as a player Magic is okay with him.
I'm not sure how Luke feelz since weeks ago he said to build for the future because no one is beating GSW |
