Well TJ Leaf was drafted at 18, so I could envision Kuzna with his defense going to Miami at 14, seeing that they took a PF.
Lonzo, Kuzma, Hart NCAA champ team?? |

I think Kuzmas' game has improved since he left college, that's why he seems so much better than his draft position would indicate. |

Leaf was a freshman and shot insane percentages. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Kuzma's a junior, top 10 drafts usually want freshmans. Kuzma probably would be in the 16-20 range. _________________

I am sure he would be top 15 at least a lottery pick. |

I think that's fair. Although guys like John Collins and TJ Leaf look like they should have been taken earlier. It also keeps bearing in mind that, as compared to most lottery picks, Kuzma is older and more experienced. That has to be taken into account. Where will some of these guys be in 2-3 years from now? It's not an apples-apples comparison.
Definitely a steal. No ifs or buts about that though. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

I have been thinking the same. I am a huge UCLA Basketball fan and have been considering the idea that Kuzma is better than Leaf. He has looked really good in summer league that is for sure.
As good as we did in the draft the past couple of years, I think Magic and Rob made excellent picks this year. If they are able to come up with a couple more winners over the next few years, we may end out looking back on Mitch and thinking he got less than we thought.
Seems like the current draftees have better all around games, better two way games than anyone Mitch and Jim brought in, with perhaps the exception of Ingram. I can really see Kuzma developing into a solid rotation player here. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! I think Ingram will benefit more from Lonzo than Julius. _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |

Let's not act like Lonzo is directly making Kuzma good. Kuzma has been balling since he declared for the draft. He killed every workout and was a standout at the combine scrimmages.
I'm not saying Lonzo's contagious unselfishness isn't a part of it, but I don't think its right to discredit all the hard work he's put in. |

Caracter was a really high recruit out of high school. Ironically, he had some character issues that led to him transferring to UTEP and ultimately hampered any chance he had in the NBA.
Dont see those issues with Kuzma.
Yes, it is only summer league, but we have every right to be excited and optimistic. These guys are playing great. Not just well, great. It is what you imagine good players would do in summer league. Much better than them struggling through. |
