And its still interesting that Flynn hasn't bee charged yet. He seemed like the lowest of the hanging fruit. It likely means he cooperating to some extent, probably to protect his son. I read he was concerned about his son's involvement. It wouldn't be a surprise if he let himself go down with the ship in exchange for immunity for his son. |

We're at the point absurdity now.
For the purposes of this discussion, there is little difference between saying:
I think she's promoting her brand.
And
She is promoting her brand.
Almost everything we post here is an "I think" statement.
Further semantics discussion should be done via PM. |

ABC News: Special Counsel sends wide-ranging request for documents to Justice Department
Quote: | Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team investigating whether President Donald Trump sought to obstruct a federal inquiry into connections between his presidential campaign and Russian operatives has now directed the Justice Department to turn over a broad array of documents, ABC News has learned.
In particular, Mueller's investigators are keen to obtain emails related to the firing of FBI Director James Comey and the earlier decision of Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself from the entire matter, according to a source who has not seen the specific request but was told about it.
Issued within the past month, the directive marks the special counsel's first records request to the Justice Department, and it means Mueller is now demanding documents from the department overseeing his investigation. |
|
Can anyone create something that denies trump or anyone the right to fire Mueller unless some extremely specific set of rules have been broken? |
DOJ already has rules in place that he can only be fired directly by AG and it has to be for cause (ethics violation, etc).
However, DOJ can change their rules, especially if Sessions leaves and Trump appoints a new AG who doesn't have to recuse himself.
Dems in Congress have introduced various bills to protect Mueller investigation. So far, no R's have been interested (Ryan & McConnell would have to allow a vote).
If Mueller was fired, the Congress after-the-fact could decide to fund Mueller's investigation so it could continue.
There used to be an Independent Counsel statute (after the Watergate debacle), that specifically protected their investigation from outside political interference, but the statute was allowed to expire and congress never reauthorized. |

I see a weakness in Democracy exploited by guile. Trump's using the god almighty dollar to foundation his agenda. As long as money is the reason, those who have it will dominate. How do we eliminate the need for it? Figure that out and become the worlds first trillionare.
Trumps surrounded himself with people who know one way of life, the good life. Yes, some came from poor beginnings, how soon they forget.
I shuddered because of what I'm witnessing. I have great health insurance, a financial foundation that allows a comfortable existence for years left. I pray you youngsters will git yo ish together and get the country back on track. It's a delicate balancing act between having total freedom, which enables narcissism, greed and selfishness, and true "democracy", which would mean some form of mild socialism because the state would have to intervene to ensure balance, which involves giving up some sense of liberty and autonomy. Both are inherent flawed. You can have liberty or security, but you can't have both at the same time. Eisenhower once noted that if what you really want is security, the best way to get it is being sent to prison (I'm paraphrasing).
Money and liberty are nice things, but they are also double edged swords. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Freedom is Americas foundation. Government is a necessity, it documents rules for fairness, peaceful existence.
Those with money controlling how things are done is not beneficial to the multitude, it's not democracy it's plutocracy.
Look around, people living countries with plutocratic, monarchical governments have very little say concerning their existence. This is why democracy is so feared by autocrats. Donald Trump is a dangerous person. He's taking America in that direction.
I have faith the worm will turn and we'll get back to basics. My displeasure is Trump will still be sitting in Trump Tower living the good life when it does.
Liberty and security are achievable if money is obliterated. Star Trek. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Freedom is absolutely our foundation. The downside to that is that it enables people to accumulate grotesque amounts of wealth, which then gives them the power and clout to influence politics by lobbying. Things like Citizens United and giving corporations the same legal status as people made it even worse.
Our Founding Fathers were libertarians by today's standards. A few of them probably gave lip service to the problems of too much wealth in too few hands but put no safeguards against that in place. We've seen exactly that gradually build up over the last 35 years, and now with Trump it seems like it's hit its apex. Unless perhaps Kanye West or one of the Kardashians even becomes president. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |
