I remember the days where Emplay, Larry Coon and Sky were the stars on Dejay news. |

you all do have a pretty positive take on the future here. Sometimes I get burned out on the Lakers web because you have to deal with all the bad takes. It was bad enough dealing with these low points in our evolution, as we start to rebuild, I am literally hoping for hope. I want to feel good about this team. Jim and Mitch gave me nothing to feel good about. I feel bad that I ended out feeling that way about Mitch. He attached himself to Jim, thinking he would win out or something, maybe just saw him as his boss.
I am so happy to hear someone with some knowledge seem to think that Magic and Rob are an upgrade and could really attract some solid talent.
I will always believe that when Jim fired the whole Lakers staff during the strike shortened season, a move no other reasonable owner made, screwed him big time. The negative take on him after was something he could NEVER recover from. Nothing like starting out your era with a super negative action that dug him the biggest hole he could have ever dug.
We now have a FO who truly have the players interests at heart, as well as caring about the Buss family. If players continue to blow us off, I will be unable to understand it. This is a FO I would want to play with and there is enough talent here to help any star out. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! With the owners and players always wanting more $$$$, it is fascinating that the proposal to get a percentage of the sports betting did not get any traction from the NBAPA?????
Great Job! |

Thanks, Eric. Great stuff as usual.
A bit of advice, when marketing the Sports Business Classroom to Lakers fans, maybe you shouldn’t list Nate Duncan as a selling point. Lol. He’s definitely rubbed some Lakers fan the wrong way with his bad takes on Lakers personnel and his petty beef with our very own GT. |

It did, if the NBA gets $ from sports betting, it goes into BRI, which means players are getting roughly 50% _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

Oh dang. Larry/Emplay probably draw a lot of Lakers fans to the class. I'm sure when our friend from the Bay area speaks, our Lakers fans will cross their arms ala Byron and turn their backs while busting out Lakers Filmroom shirts. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Great stuff. The only thing I didn't like was Larry's guess that Julius' price will be north of $20M _________________ .... |

I found it encouraging, except for the part where Larry Coon said he thinks Randle's camp may be asking for $20 million a season. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Usually, "asking for" is not a problem, as it all depends on how much other teams will offer. Nerlens Noel asked for more than $70M/4yrs and ended up with a $ 4M QO.
But, in this particular case, Julius' camp is the same that can bring us, or not, Paul George. They might strong arm the Lakers here. _________________ .... |

Ah, cool. Larry gave kind of a shout out to the Lakers old Usenet newsgroup, ASBNLL, where he, like many of us, honed his internet debate skills. |

Any details on the $$$ and the effect it will have on The Cap
Side Note:
With many pundits sharing that the market for FA $$$$ will be tight, also compensating for the past large jump in Cap Space that led to bad deals (hello Deng and Mosgov) plus few teams have financial flexibility, what are the general estimates of the offers that Randle will receive (recognizing that he will probably be asking for $20M).
What are the benefits to the Lakers if LBJ will only do a 1+1 contract (hence, a rental HOF). As shared on Sports Radio, Lebron is a high maintenance player that will need a seasoned FO to handle his many requests for potentially just one season. |
