I am hoping Night King hits KL first with his ice dragon, Cersei strikes a deal to become his Ice queen and they ride towards Winterfell with a massive army |

yeah |
We went over a lot of familiar territory for us, the audience, outside of finally learning how Tormund got the moniker "Giantsbane", but it was a lot of unfamiliar territory for characters who haven't seen in each other in ages. The character growth we got in this episode was from the many listeners who accepted the changes in others. I don't know if I'd call it great, but it was certainly much more deft character work than the first episode which was mostly just table setting. _________________ Under New Management |

"What about the North?" - Sansa making it clear the North were committed to never bend the knee to an outside King was just another indication to me that Sansa will hold power in the end.
Also, Theon returning making it clear that he was there to fight for Winterfell/Starks.....as well as Brienne commitment to Sansa, which could extend to Tormund, Jaime Lannister and Podrick. Sansa has the loyalty of Arya which could extend to Gendry and The Hound. It would not take much to gain Tyrion Lannister's support.
I think Sansa is in a better position than anyone to consolidate power. |

Literally EVERY SINGLE character has gone through massive personal growth. Jamie's story arc for example is easily one of the most well written character's we've had on screen (or in books for those of you that actually read 'em). Juxtapose that to how one dimensional Dany is and I'm scratching my head how they bothcame from the same writer. On a table full of exquisite ethnic cuisine full of exotic flavors, you have a pile of your mom's (bleep) mac and cheese and meathloaf on a paper plate. Sticks out like a sore thumb. |
Agree completely, but the problem is less the writing and more the alleged acting of Emilia Clarke. She doesn't have the skill to carry off the nuances to bring a character like Dany to life. If her acting skills were on par with even half of her fellow cast, she could have made Dany interesting and dynamic. And thus her story could of embodied some of that.
But because Clarke hasn't been able to grow as an actress and all she can play is bratty, self-involved, petulant and vapid, none of the things she says and does at this point come across as anything but that. Thus you don't believe she really cares about those she rules, those she trusts, or even those she loves.
If one wants a head to head comparison between actresses on the show and the differences in their talent, just watch the scene in the last episode where Dany goes to see Sansa for their private conversation. Sophie Turner has so many looks and line reads that really tell a story. In one reaction cut you learn so much about how the conversation is going just from seeing the shift her eyes and a subtle change in facial expression. Her line reads convey a wide degree of emotions and intents that shift throughout the scene - standoffishness, distrust, a shift in attitude towards the possibility of acceptance, some feigned vulnerability, and then a return to the original emotions of contempt, confidence and sincerity with her performance at the end of the scene which is game changing. Clarke, being limited to her three looks: cliched attempts at fierceness, insincere eye batting, and unconvincing attempts at dignity and righteousness that just read at (bleep) arrogance. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

You would. With the important difference that Lena Heady could at least make it interesting. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I think Jon's ability to consolidate power is extremely weak at this point. I think he has lost much of the trust that the North once gave him. If Daenerys falls, who would the Unsullied and Dothraki fight for? My guess would be they consolidate behind Sansa. |

I asked the question because I quickly verified her age...because I kind of saw her as this little girl. I knew she had to be over 18 when the scene happened, but I definitely made sure via google. Once I saw 22, I no longer felt weird about it. |

No punches pulled when it comes to Dany in the thread.

I am a big fan of the show, but was really disappointed in the Season 8 opening episode...I thought at times it was almost cheesy with the characters almost playing their roles tongue in cheek.
The 2nd episode was better, but I am hoping the season really improves from here so the show closes with the quality it deserves. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Once she got the unsullies, the growth sort of stop. I like her character too, just not my top ones... Cersei then Tyrion |

I'm not a hard-core fan of the show, so take this FWIW. I heard talk about the last few eps being "mega-eps." Seems to me that everything covered in the first two eps could have been compacted into one mega-ep. I don't think they needed two full, discrete episodes to cover the ground they covered, especially with the limited time they have left to wrap everything up. I just took a quick look and this season is 432 minutes long. 112 of those minutes got the story to where it is now -- that seems disproportionate.
I was uncomfortable with the Arya scene as well, and I think dads can relate to what I think is (my personal) reason -- I first saw her as a little girl. That changes things, no matter what else changes in the meantime. But I think it's ironic that nobody bats an eye when this once-a-little-girl kills people by the dozens.
And yeah -- Clarke can't act. Her withdrawing her hand from Sansa's conveyed what her face couldn't. |

probably stated multiple times already but they really should have combined these last two episodes into one, hour and fifteen minute episode
especially considering how short this season is, episodes wise _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way |
