Not defend Hilary on this one. But if one read the article before it was "updated" to remove the actual comment about not endorsing, she says she won't do so now because it is still the Primaries. |
She, just like Bernie has a large following and they will listen to those two, as long as either one don't pull a Tulsi and unite after the primary is over (whoever the nominee), it's primary season I guess |
I don't disagree. I am simply pointing out the blatant intellectual dishonesty in the article's presentation. I know a lot of people here and elsewhere don't care about that kind of thing (and I'm not putting you in that group), but I think now more than ever truth and accuracy are critically important. |
Going to the original source I find lessens the blow of any bias. Still, I don't see how the phrasing of "primary season" is exculpatory in any way. We know Trump and Pence are going to be on the ticket in Novemeber. Even an oligarch in Bloomberg committed to voting for him last week.
FYI, Bernie campaigned for Hillary 37 times in 2016. |
So she's got to back Bernie before he's the nominee or it's the same as not supporting him afterward? Are you supporting Biden right now? |
I support Biden if he's the nominee. That was literally the question. It's not hard to say. The oligarch who could potentially be taxed out the ass is even willing to go there. |
I'm sorry, but how is this the same as her saying she's not supporting him right now because there is still a primary going on? |
It's a meaningless distinction without a difference. We know the primary is going to end at some point, right? We also know that Trump and Pence will be on the ballot. What magical scenario is she anticipating that would change these basic facts to make the timing relevant? |
I saw the quote from Hilary (before the article was "updated to remove the actual words she used). She stated she wasn't going to support him because the Primaries are still going on. Which is essentially what Obama said in regards to Biden. So are you going to malign Obama for allegedly saying "he won't support Biden" . . . or Bernie or any other candidate? |
In the context of being the eventual nominee and against Trump, he actually said that? I seem to recall him saying, or it being floated from his camp, the opposite. |
Obama said he wasn't endorsing Biden while the Primaries were going on. Exactly what Hilary said in regards to Bernie. So where's the outrage directed at Obama? Or do you just save that stuff for Hilary?
Oh . . . and I'm still waiting for you to point us to all those alleged accusations that Bernie was a racist that you said were made here. |
I apologized to BVH for that. And the question was not about issuing a premature endorsement, it was about whether she would do it if he was the eventual nominee. My God...
One endorsement would be against fellow Democrats. The other would be against Trump. That's the one she's not committing to. |
Appreciated. _________________ Under New Management |

I assume Warren's done in another 4-6 weeks so this will be moot on her part, but I'm glad she's putting it out as an attempted campaign boost and a policy idea to push onto the Sanders campaign/potential administration. One of Obama's big mistakes was trying to reconcile by being nice - John Yoo should be in prison but instead he's tenured at Boalt Law in Berkeley with regular appearances on Fox News. _________________ Under New Management |

Phone blowing up with Twitter announcements of a real time constitutional crisis as procedural amendment after amendment gets voted down along party lines to ensure a sham trial, feeling impotent, deciding to settle in to a nice jjigae and c0cktail while watching an avante garde French sex farce to numb the premonitions of the worst to come.

From Hillary Clinton on Twitter:
"I thought everyone wanted my authentic, unvarnished views!
But to be serious, the number one priority for our country and world is retiring Trump, and, as I always have, I will do whatever I can to support our nominee."

well, I'm in my 40s and although I don't line completely with the democrats, always thought the higher moral was an advantage, maybe that's the wrong way of looking |

You know what I really like about this, and about Warren...you know if she were elected she'd be a high energy, high activity President and hit the ground running on day 1. I love that she has plans for everything, and I'll say this...if I were a corrupt person in the Trump administration, I'd be most worried about a Warren administration coming up behind a Trump administration. While Bernie is my first choice, I'd be very happy with a President Warren. |

Tbh, one of the main appeals of Warren for me is that I'm very confident she would punish people I dislike the most. I want blood to flow on K Street, Pennsylvania Ave, and in the Financial District and I think even Bernie would be somewhat squeamish about the punitive measures Warren would bring down. _________________ Under New Management |

That would be a mistake.
I think what the last 4-5 years has revealed is that corruption needs to be addressed. We can't sit back and believe that Trump was the only ill we faced. Corruption is pervasive and we need to do something about it.
Warren has said repeatedly that corruption reform is a top priority of hers because it's the root of many of our problems in government. I'm with her on that issue. |

Sadly, I'm going to ask a serious question.
There's some talk about Senate Dems perhaps trading Hunter Biden's witness testimony for Mulvaney's testimony. Putting aside that Hunter Biden likely does not have any material evidence to offer on Trump's shakedown of Zelenskyy, does anyone really believe that Mulvaney will testify truthfully? On its face, getting Mulvaney on the stand seems like it would be a good outcome for the House's position, but that assumes he would tell the truth.
I don't think we can trust anyone in Trump's camp to tell the truth. Seriously. And Mulvaney denying his prior words (that were on the record) during an impeachment trial would be gold for Trump. Whether it's true or not, a soundbite from Mulvaney denying the claims is all Trump needs because his supporters don't care about the truth. That includes his Congressional protectors. They only need political cover. |
