We know that his parents wanted to sell his things without his permission years ago.

We also know he let them sell a few to cover the auction costs and the auction house is selling them now(for obvious reasons).

What people think of them because of it is merely an opinion.

KOBE BRYANT
LAKERS RING GIFTED TO DAD FOR SALE
Expected To Fetch $250K!!

The L.A. Lakers 14k gold & diamond championship ring that Kobe Bryant gifted to his father just hit the auction block and it's expected to bring in a QUARTER-MIL!!

Here's the deal ... 20 years ago -- following Los Angeles' title-winning '99-'00 season -- Mamba bought 2 additional rings and gifted them to his parents, Pamela and Joe "Jellybean" Bryant.

The rings are IDENTICAL to the bling Kobe, Shaq, and the rest of the Lakers squad received.

We're talking real gold and 40 diamonds on each massive ring.

Goldin Auctions -- who recently sold Pamela's ring for $206k -- is now offering "Jellybean's" ring ... and GA tells us they expect it to sell for over $250,000.

FYI, Pamela and Joe sold the rings -- along with other memorabilia -- back in 2013 for a total of $280,000.

And, get this, there's more awesome Kobe swag for sale:

- Kobe Bryant worn and signed cast from when he broke his wrist during the preseason in 1999. Expected to bring in about $20k.

- A 1996-1997 Topps Chrome Refractors Kobe Bryant rookie card (a very rare card). Expected to go for around $75k.

- A Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant signed basketball. Expected to sell for $20k to $25k.

The market for Kobe collectibles has always been high -- but right now, enthusiasts are clearly motivated and willing to shell out the big bucks to have something special in their collections to remember the NBA legend.

I am kind of surprised it didn't go higher especially since its the same exact replica his mom had but hers went for a higher amount?

Kobe Bryant’s Lakers championship ring gifted to dad falls short of $250,000 expectation

Kobe Bryant, Lakers
The NBA championship ring Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant gifted to his father, Joe Bryant, has just been sold at an auction. As it turns out, however, it fetched a much lower value than the $250,000 it was expected to sell for.

According to a report by Tyler Conway of B/R the championship ring was sold for $132,000, which is barely half of the expected valuation of the item. The ring was sold via Goldin Auctions on Saturday.

The 14-karat gold and diamond ring was gifted by Kobe Bryant to his dad, after he had won the championship in 2000. To be clear, it is not the actual championship ring. It is merely a replica Kobe had made especially for his father.

Incidentally, Kobe Bryant gave a similar ring to his mother, Pamela, as well. She too decided to cash in on the item, and it reportedly fetched $206,000 in May.

Clearly, the Bryants are taking advantage of the sharp increase in Kobe Bryant memorabilia following the tragic death of their son in a helicopter crash back in January. We’re not saying that they’re completely treating the tragedy as an opportunity to earn a significant amount of money — surely we cannot fathom the pain they are feeling in losing their beloved son (and granddaughter in Gianna) — but the timing of their sale is undeniably geared towards the same.

This is not the first time Joe and Pam have sold off priceless memorabilia that were gifted to them by their son. In 2013, Kobe Bryant actually sued his parents in an attempt to prevent them from selling his memorabilia.

You’re right. But we do know a lot about his parents and it’s not good so don’t go there and try to act like we are forming an opinion out of nowhere.

By the way I have a theory. Auctioning (bleep) off behind Kobe’s back...asking him for money all the time..living in vegas...do his parents have a gambling problem? Perhaps they owe a lot of money...gambling debts can even make the best of people do some pretty rough things. Just a theory.

That rumor has made the rounds so yeah I think they have one would explain a lot especially with him cutting them off. Course they're also greedy apparently.

I wonder if his parents visited the crash site to see if they could find some wreckage to auction off.

My parents know the guy that bought these rings from his parents and subsequently just auctioned them both off. He is a huge Lakers fan and used to follow the team on road games whenever he could, which was often. He actually tried to sell one of the rings a while ago and it didn’t reach the minimum they set for it. It obviously reached the minimum now, but he felt guilty about the circumstances so he donated the profits to his church.

Its sadder that some stranger felt worse about this than his own parents...

However its a nice gesture to donate it to the church hopefully they will spend those funds wisely.
