Nope. To get to our rafters you have to have 2 things
1. Be in the HoF.
2. Have won a ring with us. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."

Yes. Elgin Baylor.
The only stated criteria from the team that I’ve heard is that they only hang HOFers. You think the org doesn’t want one of the greatest of all time up there? _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

not every HOF who has played for the team will get their number retired (ex. malone, payton, probably also nash) so lebron will probably need a ring to get there...my 2 cents... |

Those guys didn’t lead a Laker team to the Finals. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

If he wins a ring, of course.
But regardless, I have a hard time seeing Jeanie Buss not hanging #23 up in the rafters, with or without rings. Just look at all of the actions we took to try to convince Dwight to resign back in the day. This isn’t Jerry Buss’ Lakers anymore. After all that has happened in this era, I think our current front office will be quick to put their own stamp on Laker history. LeBron is up there regardless IMO because he’s the biggest thing to happen in the current regime’s time in charge. |

Yeah the precedent is already there that you don’t need a ring to have your number retired. LeBron is (and should be) part of the brand forever now. We’d be wise to keep him as an ally after he retires in some capacity. Btw Jerry would put LeBron up there in a heartbeat. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Werent James and Davis going to swap numbers and Bron would wear 6 again? Also no one else's jersey goes up before Mikan. The hell is Buss thinking??? We can claim Minneapolis's 5 titles but dont show proper respect to the big man who led us to those 5 titles???? Jamaal Wilkes, James Worthy, Gail Goodrich before Mikan. Complete nonsense |

Good points. Hopefully, this whole conversation is a moot point anyway in about 2 weeks or so |

If the Lakers win a championship, i don't think LeBron and AD will change numbers. 23 will be associated with LeBron as a Laker when he retires, so AD has no chance of getting 23 in the rafters as a Laker over LeBron imo. |

The NBA said they decided on the switch too late for this season. Also Mikan is up in the rafters. He just has to share his banner with his Minneapolis teammates. |

True I believe its still available to be worn though. Thats not showing proper respect to the winners of our first 5. |

Orlando will retire Dwight's uniform. He spent eight years with that organization and he led them to an NBA finals. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

There's a big difference between praising a player and propping him up simply to diminish Kobe (which is ACTUALLY what you did for all those years). But hey, don't mind me... |

They havent yet retired anyone's jersey. 1 trip to the finals lead to a retired jersey??? I think the Magic may be as stringent with this as us. They just dont have the rich history. |

There's a monumental difference between Dwight and Lebron contribution wise haha. I absolutely love how Dwight has redeemed himself this season but even with a championship he's not a shoe in at all to get his number in the rafters for the Lakers imo.
Lebron on the other hand has not only brought the Lakers back to the Finals for the first time in a Decade but he stepped up and lead not only this team but all of Laker Nation through one of the toughest losses this franchise has ever felt (and ever will). This season will always be remembered for the rest of Lakers history as a season that had an extreme low and hopefully will also be remembered with the extreme high of a Championship as the ultimate Tribute to the most fierce Champion that's ever donned the Purple & Gold. Lebron did it with class and pure hard work and determination which deserves nothing but the ultimate respect of having his jersey eventually be joined with the many other all time greats in the rafters and yet another jersey the Clippers will have to cover up |

We all love Dwight....by no means does he belong amongst our retired jerseys. Thats just the reality. Pau, Bron and AD. Those should be the next 3 |

I had to Google it because I didn’t believe it. The fact that Orlando hasn’t retired Shaq’s jersey is shameful. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |
