The latest is Rashard Lewis doesn't want Seattle to match any offer. Theirs not many teams who can offer him a large contract. Surely, Seattle doesn't want to let him walk for nothing. So a sign and trade would be ideal for both parties. Lewis is opting out of a $10mil per year contract. Hes probably gonna want something similar. How bout we sign and trade Luke($4-5 mil) and Cook($3.5 mil) and add an early second rounder for Rashard Lewis. This would also open up options to trade Odom/and or Bynum for a legit superstar(JO, KG, ect.)

Ideal roster:
MLE(Mo Williams or Charlie Bell)/ farmar/ Sasha
Bryant/ Evans
Lewis/ Radmonovich
JO/ Turiaf
Brown/ Mihm(resigned)
*not including draft picks.

Yup, that second-round pick is sure to seal the deal.

Rashard Lewis is a one trick pony, what the hell is wrong with people. He sucks, period.

I don't think we have anything that Seattle wants in a S&T for Lewis that could match the salary he's asking for. HOWEVER, if they do lose out on him, Vlad would be a nice low-cost alternative. I had lost hope when it was rumored Lewis was leaning towards staying with his GF being from Seattle. However, with the recent arena proposal rejection, a relocation is likely.

Vlad had his best years in Seattle and he's currently making much less than what they even offered him in the first place for his extension. It's been shown that he can play well next to Ray Allen. He'd supplement Wilcox's inside game nicely as well.

I think it's reasonable that we could get one of their PGs for Vlad. Both Watson and Ridnour only have 3 years left on their deals so they expire right when Farmar is up for an extension and hopefully by then, he is entrenched as our starting PG.

Lewis doesn't solve our most glaring need, defense. If you're going to upgrade on the perimeter, it needs to be a 2-way player. He is not.

Kirilenko is the better gamble for a trade I'd say.

I like it but I dont think Seattle would like the trade. Plus Bynum and Odom is too much to give up for JO salary doesn't work anyway. Good idea just needs some retooling and Mo Williams or Charlie Bell will want more thane mle.

Lewis is hardly a defensive player. In fact, Odom is a better rebounder and passer anyways. All Lewis would do is hold a Radmanovic kind of role and the only thing he's better at than Odom is shooting and consistent energy. If we're going to add a SF (and presuming Walton stays), I'd go for AK47. He's the guy that can fill our holes as he's a defensive stalwart and not bad of a scorer.

no reason for the sonics to do this.

you contradict yourself - not many teams can afford him, but the sonics could lose him for nothing ?

doubtfull.

he only has one possible free agent destination - the magic, and they will go after carter first.

very good chance he stayed with the sonics, and btw - he didn't say anything about not wanting them to match any offers.
they can't even do that - he's not a restricted free agent. they can match all they want - if he wants to leave - he leaves.

but he wont, since no one can pay him what they can (again - except one realistic option but not extremely likely - in the magic).
if the sonics make him a good offer - he stays.
they'll probably be open to a sign and trade, but you'll actually have to give up something to get him, and no - luke is not that something...

Rashard said he is looking for a max deal. That starts at $15M. I doubt either the Hawks or Bobcats do that. Chicago would have to renounce both Sweetney and Nocioni to get the space. They might let Fatso go anyways but not Andres.

That leaves the Magic. They have to renounce Darko. Then they would have to get rejected by Vince.

Then again it looks like the Sonics are heading to OK City. Vegas is pipe.

Rashard has on more than one occaision said he is as good as Kobe. So if he comes here he going to shoot 25x plus?

Rashard would lessen the load on Kobe and would allow Lamar to do the little things. Two long, versatile players at the forward spots would cause matchup problems for opponents and Lewis is a better defender than Luke Walton. I'd overpay for him.

Rashard Lewis

The pros- He can shoot from anywhere, is tall enough to shoot over most defenders, and is a very good athlete.

The cons- Avoids the paint like it was wet, plays virtually no defense, passes only by accident, settles for jumpers almost exclusively, stands around on the perimeter, helped Ray Ray run off the coach who had the temerity to make them play defense, the next rebound he chases will be the first, sits out with very minor injuries, always pouting about something.

Listen guys, the man is a serious talent with a great jumper. But he just doesn't try most nights, and even disappears on offense from time to time. He has no heart, but a big attitude. You don't want him, trust me.

^^^ Spot on 24.

Rashard Lewis is softer than a roll of charmin. Basically, I see him as a better Vlad Rad. Granted, much better all around athelete and scorer, but bottom line - tall guy who likes to shoot from the perimeter but doesn't rebound well or play D.

While he'd be an ideal #2 scorer to Kobe, we don't improve on defense at all. And far all that, we shoot ourselves in the foot cap-wise. Pass.
