How about Mike Bibby as a free agent pickup.
I believe he can opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.

He's not gonna opt out. He's got 16 mil coming his way. Think he's gonna pass up 12 mil for an outside chance at making the 2nd round? Why wouldn't he just sign with the Mavs, Spurs, or God forbid, the Heat?

1 - he'd be great.

2 - he's not opting out to take less $$$. If he opts out, it'll be because his agent has found someone who'll give him more than the 2yr/28MM he has left on his deal.

3 - we don't have the room to sign him.

4 - the Kings won't S&T him to us - that ship has sailed.

Bibby key points:

-He's a 40% shooter this year
-He only dished out 4.7 assists in a run n gun offense
-He plays worse defense than Smush
-He's extremely overpaid

we really need to abandon this romantic notion that a player will take the MLE for a chance to pair with Kobe or (guffaw) win a championship. There's at least 8 other teams (mavs, spurs, suns, rockets, jazz, Heat, Bulls, Pistons) with a much greater chance at winning a championship. I said it before, no one's gonna give up 10 mil per on the open market for an outside chance at the 2nd round.

Don't worry...he's not gonna opt out. Where else can he make that much money after the seaosn he had this year?? No team would be that stupid!
(Not even Mitch.........I hope!!)

Can't stand Bibby and his non-existent defense anyway.

Why in the world would he opt out of 16 mil next year to take 5.5 mil with us? I know the Lakers are a historic and great team, but to every other player out there its just the same as all the other teams.

I think he would be a good pickup for the MLE.

Bibby's ALWAYS been overrated. He cashed in on D Fish's horrid D and has basically been of no major help to the Kings.
