Now that AD has finished three seasons as a Laker, how would you compare him to Pau in his first three (really two and a half) seasons? Obviously Pau had more winning success, but AD had the higher peak. Who was better overall?
AD: One ring and one #1 seed.
Pau: Two rings in three finals appearances, with three #1 seeds. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Pay Gasol all day. Ppl sleep on Gasol cause he doesn’t look the most athletic specimen but never forget he was considered one of the best skilled big man in the league for years.

Pau. Availability is the determining factor. He was also so skilled as a big man. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant
Gasol day 1 fit was like nothing before. After that first game I was wondering if the Lakers would ever lose a game again. People may think that AD is the better player but Lakers went to 3 straight Finals once Gasol joined the team.
I think AD has the ability to be just like Pau and probably better in Laker lore, but he has to be able to stay healthy and on the court. I don't personally think he's soft, per se, but just injury prone. So for a first three seasons view, Pau for sure. In Laker career view, when all is said and done, it could very well be AD, and I actually think it may be.

I recall how seamless it was also. As if he's been playing with us for years. That day 1 chemistry was one of a kind. _________________ “You can't be held captive by the fear of failure or the fear of what people may say.” - Kobe Bryant

AD was better in the one season he was healthy. He played at a near-MVP level. However, Gasol had three healthy seasons, so I give the nod to him.
If AD stayed fit id say him. But if we take into account Gasols constant presence, he edges it _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82

Anthony was all-nba first team, all-defense first team, MVP and DPOY votes. Pau was all-nba third team, not a single MVP vote.
And this is all Kobe needed to immediately become a contender, and repeat.
Imagine if he had the help that LeBron has had his entire career.
Kobe was on flat out terrible teams in the middle of his prime, for 3 seasons between Shaq and Pau. Is there another GOAT level player with the same scenario? Then at the far end of his career, where many stars ringchase, he was again on bad teams. _________________ 48 49 50 52 53 54 72 80 82

If you were asking me what player I'd pick for that 2007-2010 Lakers run between Anthony Davis and Pau Gasol?
Anthony Davis. Better player. Better two way player. Better offensive player. Better defensive player. And his playoff runs were more "God Mode" than Gasol's were. And unlike Pau he was able to win Playoff Games before coming to the Lakers.
Pau is a Hall of Famer and one of the best big men ever. But so is Anthony Davis. People are quick to forget that because fans are fickle. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Pau had a better run because of health and the fact Kobe carried him. He really went from 0-12 in the playoffs to the nba finals without a training camp after faking a back injury in Memphis. And yes he faked it because he was out with the back injury that magically healed flying cross country and let him suit up as soon as possible lol.
Pau was a walking 20 and 10. Pau wasn’t really clutch. Pau had toughness issues. Pau stayed healthy though which is why he had a better run overall.
AD though is by far the better talent. Pau never played the way that AD played his first year. AD was elite both ends. AD outperformed Lennon every round to get out the west. Pau can never say he out played love every round of a playoff run. In fact Pau in their last title run saw his averages drop every series on the road. AD was a different kind of beast anchoring the best defense, scoring like he was Shaq, hitting game winners, and switching on to everyone from Jokic to Jimmy Butler.
If you went in a time warp and gave Kobe and Phil in 2008 AD, they are three peating and the whole teams dynamic vastly changes
AD has a better career and better results than Pau did if you take Kobe and Lebron away from them. AD won playoff games and a series, Pau couldn’t as a leader. AD was elite defensively, Pau wasn’t. AD has Pau as a talent and individual easily.
