Yep, we'll have to go for it. And it's good that England has not clinched, so the odds of a Wales win are pretty remote. England has still never beaten the USA in a World Cup, by the way! |

What an amazing game by the USA. Completely negated the impact of Bellingham and Saka. Grealish had a couple moments and Walker Zimmerman had a few WTF moments but overall would have never expected the US to look like the better side. Now can Pulisic, Dest, McKennie and Weah breakdown the Iranian resistance?? I can Pulisic scoring against Iran. Can Iran's Azmoun finally get on the scoresheet after looking so dangerous vs Wales |

Agree with you on Grealish. I thought he looked exciting. Sterling was a complete non-factor. Zimmerman is shaky, yes, and it's his terrible penalty that's really hurting the U.S. right now, who should be on 4 points and merely needing a draw to go through, not to mention that we could have topped the group if we do manage to beat Iran. |

Our fellow LGer and bro to everyone "Birmingham" is over there in Cutter. He shot me some pics and hottakes about Cutter, etc. He works for a Brit soccer club as a crowd interviewer/rep and the club paid for the trip. Dunno why a city club would need to represent at the World Cup, but trust me, br0z. He doesn't post here that often, but C M B knows him, too. He'll vouch for the lad to a mafia degree of danger.
So LG has representation in Cutter/Qatar as well. Tertiary representation. Three degrees of separation: 1) personal, 2) job related, 3) LG member in Qatar on a job related trip. But it still counts!

One goal total in two games just isn't good enough.
What are they going to do to change the tactics vs. Iran to get a goal? That to me is the key, can't win if you don't score.
They are playing hard, I admire the effort but we need a finisher. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

They could've won the first game but ended up playing on their backfoot in the 2nd half. They didn't lose to England which was a small victory in itself. Unfortunately, if the USA can't score goals its a moot point they won't go far in the tournament. All the hype for this team and they could easily get eliminated in the group stage. |

When your national team's best #9 strikers in the past 30 years or so are the likes of Jozy Altidore, Brian McBride and Clint Dempsey, you never really did have finishers. |

Thought England were poor and again showed that their true weakness is their manager.
Foden instead of Mount and England are probably good enough on the ball in the middle and able to set a tempo that USA couldn’t match. Anyone could see in the first half that USA were doing well in the middle of the park, they put a lot of pressure on the England midfielders which in turn made it difficult to break lines and get room for their wingers.
If England had a good manager he’d see that and take off Mount. It’s almost becoming a joke over here with fans that Mount has some kind of leverage on Southgate to keep getting in the team over Foden.
I do think England and USA are the better teams in the group, would like it is England can take care of Wales and US can do same with Iran. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

Both teams really dislike each other. But there's more diving in this match than the real Olympic diving competition. _________________ “Properly read, the bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived.”

Looked like Mexico was playing for a tie today. If that was the case then it backfired on them.
Desperate and angry Argentina team is dangerous. |

I agree with you about the diving. A couple of times you saw Argentine players grab their faces like they had suffered a fractured skull like Tab Ramos or something, when there was maybe a grazing on the bottom of the chin or something. Ridiculous. You could get this sh*t out of the game really quickly if you allowed VAR to see obvious embellishment and to start tossing out yellow cards every time it happens. It's a joke and it's embarrassing. There is considerably less diving and flopping in the women's game, and while I would still rather watch men's soccer because they can just do more athletically, I truly enjoy women's soccer if it's the World Cup or the Olympics. I think that not only is the play of a good enough quality to be enjoyable to watch, but the lack of ridiculous flopping helps. |

I agree with you on that one. The flopping slows the game down and like you said it is flat out ridiculous. |

Just saw the scores for today.
Morocco upsets Belgium. Wow didn't see that one coming.
It seems like the rest of the world is slowly catching up to the top teams. Even when the lower ranking teams lost the matches, they looked like they had a chance to win. It's really different than the way it was 10+ years ago. |

Croatia is just too good today. Every pass missed by Canada turns in to a Croatia attack. Now they just scored their 3rd goal. |

Yeah, this one looks to be over. Canada got a tough group, they won't be moving on. Good showing for their team though, pretty decent showing against 2 teams that made it deep into the last World Cup considering they haven't been in the tournament since 1986. That will be a team to watch in 2026 when they are co-hosts along with the USA and Mexico. |

Ghana won an absolute thriller over South Korea, 3-2. South Korea kept threatening to tie in stoppage time, with 10 extra minutes added. About 45 seconds past that, South Korea's last long-range attempt at goal was deflected over the end line by Ghana, but the referee blew the whistle for the end of the game instead of granting one final corner kick. South Korea and their coach were incensed, and the coach was actually shown a red card. Apparently 10 minutes and 45 seconds of stoppage time wasn't enough. |

Its what Korea gets for letting go of their goal scoring hunt after scoring the equalizer. They had Ghana completely broken and demoralized and instead of hunting for that third goal, they let their foot off the gas pedal and let in a cheap 3rd goal. Well just like in 2002, we have to beat Portugal. That was their golden generation then when we effectively shutdown Luis Figo. Now we need our $100 million british pounds monster who is soon to go to Manchester United to shutdown the Manchester United reject Cristiano Ronaldo
But man did Jordan Ayew kill Korea. He single handedly won them this match. |

Hoping for a Portugal victory over Uruguay today. It would make their round of 16 guaranteed and they might not play as hard against Korea in their third game. Might even sit out their top players to avoid injury. |
