Based on draft position, right now it's Dillion Brooks -- a mid second round pick who is averaging 14 ppg on 55% shooting.

Would love to see Zo and Kuz share it a la Kobe and Shaq in the 2009 All star game.

The guy with a wingspan shorter than his height. That won't last

J.J. Reddick waves "hi" - no, over there. Just trust me, he's waving at you.

I think in the running against Zo, DSJ, Simmons. If he gets enough minutes, I think he puts up enough numbers to be ROY. The only question mark is Luke's rotations. PG is hardest position to learn I think it would be harder for Zo and Simmons to put up enough stats. DSJ has the green light and minutes in Dallas as a scorer so he would be the toughest guy for Kuz to beat.

Kuzma may not get the ROY, but, he's certainly turning heads.

I really think people ought to pump the breaks on the season averages until we get at least a fourth of the way into the season. Dillon Brooks was averaging 19 PPG after the first game, 14 PPG after the second game, and 10.3 PPG after tonight. We need more data to let things stabilize.

I agree with that. People were despondent after game #1 against the league's #1 defense. Then we played the #30 and #25 defenses and they are excited.

Players and teams go up and down.

Not sure what some of you are smoking here, but it is a two way race between Lonzo and Simmons. Stats are hard to ignore.

Lonzo cuts that beachball hairdo down he's got a good chance. Right now the wind resistance is slowing him down. In all seriousness, barring injury, I do think Lonzo is the frontrunner for ROY.

Lonzo, Simmons, DSJ are 3 guys who will be in the running. I have been extremely impressed with Kuzma since seeing him play game 1 of the SPL, and he's only built on that impression the more I see of him. He is just so good at so many things in bball IQ and skill and has such a high activity level/motor compared to kids that are 19. I don't think he will win ROY, but I do think he could win it if he really kills it during the season - it's possible. He's not out of the running and has more than turned some heads. Top 5 player in this group of draft picks as of right now. We've got two of the top 5 players in this past draft on our team IMHO. That's something to build on.

If it was last year, I'd say Kuzma had a chance. Still has an outside chance for this year, especially if Randle and Luke cannot find an equilibrium, and Kuz ends up taking his minutes.

But the front runners have to be Simmons and Ball.

I'll be happy if both Ball and Kuzma make the All Rookie Team.

No. This one is Simmons or lonzo, and I'd give Simmons the edge.

Who votes?

I ask because lavar's comments will turn off plenty of people

I agree with the people who said this is a two horse race. Simmons & Ball. Voters will have to consider points, rebounds, & assists per game. As well as win/loss record, if the team made the playoffs, and how many triple-doubles a person has. The pendulum is swinging in Simmons' favor right now, plus he's older, has better teammates, & plays in an historically weak East. With that said, Lonzo has the national spotlight, the Lakers brand, and some other intangibles that might help him propel to the finish line.

Are you now a fan of Simmons, VLF? Because I recall you absolutely blasting the kid before the 2016 NBA Draft.

Saying he was a quitter who didn't have heart.

Saying vets wouldn't want to come here to play with an underachiever.

Saying if we drafted him to package him with Clarkson for a veteran defensive center.

Just curious what changed.

Someone got destroyed and then he didn't even answer the question...

It's a pattern with VLF.

If he gets consistent minutes, I think he can be in the race for ROY. Give kuz 30 min and he’s likely to be at 20 ppg which is pretty high for a rookie and would garner attention league wide.

Could you imagine the freakout now if we had Fultz...

I think it would be warranted to some extent.. the freak out. He looks so ordinary, nothing jumps out to me about his game.

I have almost no doubt that his shoulder injury is real and being downplayed by Fultz (or the team). According to Sixers fans, he doesn't shoot jumpers in pre-game warmups and he took a jump ball with his left hand. They gotta sit the kid until he's healthy enough to shoot and play like he did in Washington.

They seemed to be over reactive with their other picks, if it is the shoulder I am surprised they haven’t sat him.

Simmons will win pretty easily IMO

But Lonzo, DSJ, Tatum, and Kuzma will all be in the convo.
